As a documentary about independent game developers, "Indie Game: The Movie" itself is full of strong independent temperament.

The film was funded through Kickstarter, an open funding platform, and in July 2010 they wanted to raise $15,000, but 297 backers raised a total of $23,341. In 2011 they needed to raise $35,000 for post-production, and this time 1,596 backers gave them $71,335. The film is distributed entirely digitally for a flat price of $9.99.

This is a very small movie, and people who understand will be moved by it. Ordinary players who do not like games but have not been exposed to independent games can open a new world through this work. Those who want to embark on the road of independent development can also get a glimpse of the lives of the industry leaders through this work.

After watching this movie, I want to express a lot of things, but when I put my hands on the keyboard, I don't know where to start, so let's do it.

The games Braid and Super Meat Boy from the documentary are available by purchasing the Humble Indie Bundle V ( http://www.humblebundle.com/ ) as long as the purchase price is higher than the average bid.

Indie Game: The Movie quotes

  • Jonathan Blow: If you don't see a vulnerability in somebody, you're probably not relating with them on a very personal level.

  • Edmund McMillen: My whole career has been me, trying to find new ways to communicate with people, because I desperately want to communicate with people, but I don't want the messy interaction of having to make friends and talk to people, because I probably don't like them.
