Although it cannot be surpassed, it is also heartwarming

The biggest problem with remakes is whether the artistic charm of this masterpiece can be reproduced. Back then, when I accidentally read this book, I was filled with resistance. Because many works describe the UK of that era, most of them are dark and miserable scenes, so after reading it, I usually feel unhappy for a while. But this book really moved me for a long time. Although the naked presentation of social reality is heart-wrenching, it still has a warm picture, and the warmth in this dark tone is the most shocking. This strong contrast makes this precious warmth more artistically appealing. This film obviously does not express this contrast very well. However, as I said before, its value cannot be surpassed but cannot be erased. The film's description of the dark social reality is still very tense.
