The first half of the film is completely a wonderful romantic drama. A displaced writer meets a girl who is unwilling to live in the desert. It is smooth and natural; with the intervention of Humphrey Bogart's kidnappers, the film enters another In the stage, although there are tense conflict plots, it is surprising that many characters actually discuss the social issues of men and women and the consciousness of women. Fortunately, the film finally pulls back to the theme of love.
Based on Robert E. Sherwood's play of the same name, the "contrived" lines and unique plot constructions throughout the film are acceptable.
All three lead actors put on excellent performances, Leslie Howard fits the character perfectly, Bette Davis is so familiar with the role, and Humphrey Bogart got his initial spotlight through this film.
