Coincidentally, I never seem to be absent from each film festival, and my friend Shengyi Quanquan always invites me to go with me. So, on this rainy weekend afternoon, my best friend and I came to the studio again under the violent storm to watch the very popular song and dance movie "Pina" (Pina).
Perhaps because of 3D, from the first shot of the film, people are shocked by the reality in front of them. Among them, there is the truth of art, the truth of space, the truth of emotion, and of course the truth of soul. From stage to reality, from record to recall, from bondage to release, from pain to sublimation. All the shots, narration or dance or sound and picture, no matter from which angle, try to restore pina's life, as well as the love and strength that have been integrated into the marrow of her art from objective examples.
It is hard to forget the opening scene of "The Rite of Spring", in which the female dancers walked up to the altar one by one holding the red clothes symbolizing sacrifice, and waited for the sadness in their eyes when their fate was pronounced. Frightened and helpless, like a lamb being slaughtered by others, in a strong patriarchal society, there is no resistance and no power to fight back. Although, from the perspective of the dancers' clothes and the stage setting, the time when the story takes place is very far away from us, but as long as you pay attention a little, you will realize the metaphor and deep meaning that pina wants to express. Yes, no matter how the gears of the age turn, women's eternally disadvantaged position often pushes women to the abyss of sacrifice, but the cruel reality of society has always turned a blind eye to women's suffering, and even took it for granted.
The following "Mueller Cafe" is obviously more likely to resonate with the entire audience. Because in this play, pina has completely detached herself. All that remains is the dance itself. In such a dance drama, it is easy for the audience to bring their own life experience, project the drama, think independently, feel the artistic conception, and interpret themselves. No matter whether your soul is lonely or alienated, and whether your love is sad or sweet, you can find the exit of your soul and the desire for life from the dancer's movement itself. However, as an active WTO member who likes the enthusiasm and tension of life, I am still a little bit cold about the gray throughout this play, and I don't like the too gloomy and pessimistic colors.
Finally, let's talk about the finale "Full Moon". I believe that many friends who have watched the film will be deeply moved by the aesthetic conception created by moonlight, boulders and water. Remember the man who walked out of the deep blue water? When he walked calmly and balanced among the long and narrow waterways against a number of branches, all things in the world were gone, and only the steadfast and free soul was left. This detached sense of intention teaches people to respect pina, the goddess of modern dance, from the bottom of their hearts, and it is she who brings us the most complete aesthetic experience.
Rumbling, talking about it now, it seems that I have just reminisced about a small part of the film. So, let's use the fast-forward technique to recall the heart-shaking dance episodes again.
[Power] The female dancer is full of confidence and makes various poses that show strength. Just when you can't believe how such a delicate woman can show her muscular form, the male stage turns around from behind, leading the woman to dance a dance of life that combines rigidity and softness...
[stroking] woman The dancer stood in the middle, being played with and caressed by a group of male dancers in suits and leather shoes, while the female dancer's face was ashen, with no expression at all...
[Binding] In the depressed space, the female dancer desperately tried to break free from the bondage to her body. The ropes of her, drawing the arc of freedom over and over again...
[Passenger] In the corner of the city, a young woman sat on the ground with her hair fluttering. At this time, a handsome man walked over, holding the young woman, and kept spinning with the music on the radio. At the end of the song, the man pulled away, and the woman returned to the original point again, returning to silence...
[Relying on] On the empty roof, the woman walked with difficulty and was exhausted. Fortunately, the man is always by her side, never leaving her...
Here, I don't want to make too many subjective evaluations and interpretations on the meaning of the dances mentioned above. I believe that friends who have seen them will have their own understanding and sentiment. After all, letting the audience think for themselves from the dance full of strength and passion, emotions and themes, and even become a part of the dance drama, is the artistic realm that pina wants to reach most.
Suffice it to say, life is about the same length if there are no accidents. If there is no soul, the state of life will be the same, and there will be no color. Many times, we are confused, unable to explore the meaning of life, unable to confirm the form of life.
Or try your best to gain fame and fortune; or be cautious in words and deeds, sensitive and suspicious; or heartless and mindless; of? Is it vigorous and bright, or does it follow the rules and is willing to be plain? Perhaps, after watching Pina, you will have an epiphany.
PS: In addition to the dance itself, the fit of the music is another highlight of pina, and I am looking forward to the soundtrack of the film!
