Best work by Lubitsch!

It's the best Lubitsch work I've ever seen! The shell of light comedy seems to have the core of film noir again. The gripping and hilarious plot setting did not allow its audience to get a moment of peace during the viewing process.
Lily, Mrs. Clay, as an audience, which one do you hope that Laval and Laval will end up in love? I think the vast majority of the audience is more inclined towards the elegant Mrs. Clay. (including me). (Isn't elegant temperament + suave a typical fairy couple?) But director Lubitsch doesn't think so, he obviously prefers a realistic ending. So, in the end, the thief and the thief lived happily ever after.
Favorite Laval's line near the end of the film: "Once a man is in the Who's Who, he is free from prison, but if a man starts at the bottom, a thief who eats by his craft, you will Say, hurry up and call the police and arrest him!" (It is similar to the sentence in "Zhuangzi", "Whoever steals the hook will be punished, and the one who steals the country will be called Marquis").
