An action movie with aspirations

One of the most important reasons I like "Assassin's Creed" is very personal. It can only belong to the niche taste of action movie fans, because it hardly uses fast and slow mirrors. Once upon a time, the slow motion known as the "close-up of time" was a magic weapon for Kurosawa Akira, Zhang Che, Sam Pekinpa and Wu Yusen to create action scenes. Kurosawa and Zhang Che used it to exaggerate the tragedy of the hero's death, and Wu Yusen used it to highlight the joy of the traitor's death. Each has its own advantages, but it is the same heartily. Since Johnnie To combined fast forward and slow motion in "Dark War", things have changed. "Covenant of the Wolf Race", "Resident Evil", "Promise"... and a lot of action movies that are not named, lively use fast and slow mirrors as one of the mainstream styles of action movies, and games are adapted from movies and TV. Movies (including online movies) are especially two hardest hit areas. Fast-forward to film action scenes is a very low technique. Before the 1990s, it was only used in two situations. One was the actor's skill was so terrible that he could only use fast forward to hide the ugly, and the other was to deliberately create a comic effect. Any director who pursues action scenes will definitely take the initiative to stay away from this technique. The result of combining it with slow motion is that the action scenes really become juggling. It is better to be opera. In short, it is a flowery at the expense of realism, and its sense of cheapness even exceeds the special effects of 50 cents of domestic mythological dramas. So you understand why I like the action scenes in "Assassin's Creed": no matter how exaggerated the actions are, they are all real shots. It is difficult and does not fool the audience. With this premise, after watching a few action scenes in the film, does it feel different? The village saves the prince once, and the quick and sharp action is made through editing. The sense of reality is completely incomparable with fast forward. On the speeding carriage, the female assassin performed an action of turning over and jumping onto another car with the help of a cliff. The best thing to watch is an action scene of the fire torture frame breakout, which is reminiscent of the "Prince of Persia" 7 years ago, which was directed by David Bailey, the founder of parkour, but "Assassin's Creed" The scene here combines parkour, fighting and sword-and-gun confrontation, and the speed and texture are better than that. Especially the "Leap of Faith", the effect is amazing. Looking at the behind-the-scenes information, it is said that the stuntman actually took the photo from the 38-meter-high diving platform. Another advantage of the action scenes in "Assassin's Creed" is that the weapons, props, and costumes have a high degree of historical restoration, and there is no lowering of requirements because of the adaptation of the game. The actors used swords, spears, and bows and arrows. The color of the historical part The tone and reality are also very compatible. It is said that it is a film with an overhead theme, but the art has the texture of an epic drama. There is also a feeling that is difficult to say, that is the taste of this director. The several long panoramic shots taken by tracking the flying eagle's perspective before the action scene are reminiscent of the decisive battle scene in "Alexander", which I still think is the pinnacle of ancient war scenes. The leader of the villain Knights Templar chose Jeremy Irons. Although he did not appear in the ancient part, he properly reminded him of his image of a crusader warrior in "Kings of Heaven". This is a brain hole for action movie fans, but it's a bonus. As for the final assassination scene, some people said why it was not a big fight. Instead, I felt that this was a restoration of the real assassin's assassination scene-it was a secret shot and a sword to seal the throat. The editing and sound of the film rendered the climax of revenge exciting and cheerful. I think this kind of handling is smarter than making a big fight. Others said it was because the crew ran out of money...please! "Zombie World War" ended with a "psychological climax" instead of an "action climax". You can't always say that people spend all their money on shooting the siege of Jerusalem, right? With these few action scenes at the bottom, I think this movie can be regarded as the best of the recent period costume action movies, and I am very happy to watch it. As for whether it fits the game or not, I don't care much, as long as the movie is good-looking. It is said that the game involves many historical scenes, and the ancient part of the film only involves medieval Spain. I think the director Justin Kuzel is quite clever. Spending a limited budget on restoring an era is far better than making a bunch of cheap costume plays for the game's sense of travel. The isolated Arab cities, the Inquisition, the Assassins, Columbus, and the conspiracy of the Knights Templar that have been entangled for hundreds of years on the Spanish soil... When 1492 comes out, it is enough to make people excited, right? Looking forward to the sequel. The rendering was exciting and fun. I think this kind of handling is smarter than making a big fight.
