Hit Germans like turkeys!

I watched it as a child, when I was twelve or thirteen.
There are a few clips that are quite impressive.

1. The male protagonist joined the army and went to the shooting range for the first time.
The officer gave five bullets, he missed one, then asked the officer for five more, and the officer reluctantly gave five more, each hitting the bullseye. Turning to the officer, he said that the barrel of the gun was a little crooked.

2. Opposite is the German war ditch, with a row of German soldiers in it, the US military cannot break through.
The male protagonist and a few comrades circled to the side of the battle ditch, taking advantage of the geographical advantage, and the Germans did not know it. The teammate was about to shoot, but the actor stopped him. While talking, the first shot was fired, the German soldier on the far side died, and the second shot, the second German soldier on the far side died. The male protagonist explained to his comrades that he can't be in the middle, hit the furthest one first, and kill them one by one, and the others won't know that we are behind them, just like playing a turkey.

In the end, the male protagonist came back, was promoted, and brought the beauty back.

I only watched it once, and I was very impressed. More than ten years later, I was just a primary school student who often watched cartoons.

Sergeant York quotes

  • Alvin: Well, I reckon these'll do until I get fixed up in government clothes. The corn's doin' right good on the south hill. Might need a little extra hoein'.

George York: The mule's at the gate. You've got a long ways to go.

Alvin: Well, you'll be takin' care of things from now on, George.

    George York: Sure will.

Alvin: Guess you'll be needin' a man-sized gun. You can have my rifle.

    George York: I'm a-thankin' you.

  • Zeke: [of Tennessee senator and 47th Secretary of State, Cordell Hull] I mind when Cord Hull weren't knee-high to a bull frog. Runnin' around in his shirt-tails. Just goes to show you what a fella can do if he gets book-learnin'.
