The pioneering work of 'film noir'

The theme of the film is actually - "choice". The choice of "Little Caesar" is that in the underground order of the underworld, he will constantly endure the seemingly endless test of blood and rain, and his goal is to become a feared "big brother of the underworld". The final result is to die on the street, not a good death. His former "good friend" Joe chose to stay away from the underworld, and finally realized his dream of becoming a professional dancer. The metaphor of either black or white, good or evil, here is really too clear, too straightforward, it's really a "very American" movie.
In fact, it is better to say that it is a drama than a movie. All the actors on stage showed profound stage performance skills.
There are only two episodes in the movie that make people feel like they are "watching a movie" (obviously using the so-called "movie technique"). In one case, "Little Caesar" sent someone to shoot (he thought) his accomplice who was about to defect at the door of the church, and the other was when "Little Caesar" couldn't bear to kill his "old friend" Joe. The two plots point to two diametrically opposite meanings, (the first time symbolizes the complete degeneration of "Little Caesar", and the second time it symbolizes that "Little "Caesar" still has a conscience in his heart). With the same ideological tendency, the so-called "religious salvation".
Westerners have always been -- "religious people".

  • Sam Vettori: Boys! Come on, Tony. Wake up. I want you to meet a new guy what's gonna be with us. This is, eh, eh...

Caesar Enrico Bandello: Caesar Enrico Bandello.

Sam Vettori: Oh, Little Caesar, huh?

    Caesar Enrico Bandello: Yeah, sure.
