Porn, not war

I've always wanted to watch this movie, and I think it must be a genre I like. I didn't buy it when it was released last year, and I can't find it anywhere, and I haven't downloaded it online. Yesterday, I suddenly remembered that I was looking for it on the Internet, but there were no active seeds. I was disappointed to pull it down and try it. I didn’t expect the download to be successful. It’s a miracle.

Translating the title of the film into a gift may not be what it intended, but it also fits the theme of the film when you think about it. Mrs. Henderson was an unconventional old lady who was freed from her confinement after her husband's death, and her eccentric nature was undoubtedly revealed. The old lady embroidered, did charity, and did everything the aristocratic etiquette required to do. But she doesn't care about these things. She wants to run a theatre by herself, but she wants to put on a nude show, and she is shocked by a group of moral and righteous gentlemen. She is a noble and well-bred lady. It was such a lovely old woman who put aside the hypocritical upper-class morality and etiquette, and had no lack of wit. In order to obtain the license for the nude show, she went through the back door, and the food stage just caught the judge's slip of the tongue, and obtained permission, not allowed. I don't admire her penetrating understanding of human nature and her smooth response to the life of the upper class.

As the story goes on like this, I thought it was another interesting sketch, not about great sorrow or joy, but who knew that when the plot changed, the advent of war suddenly made the relaxed tone a lot darker, so we knew that she did not run the theater on a whim, The nude show is not to challenge traditional morality, but to a mother who lost her son due to the war, who wants to give a warm gift with hope for a better life to young soldiers who are about to go to the battlefield at the same age as her son. In the face of a cold war, a little warmth, a little hope, what about porn? I think of "Spring in the Hole" that I watched some time ago. It is also a British movie, with the same lovely British English accent, and the same discussion on whether the entanglement of pornography, warmth and life hope is humane, all of which make people feel warm and comfortable. Perhaps in the face of huge human tragedies beyond our control, such as war, we need to use the impact of pornography to remind us that we are still alive, there are still beautiful things in this world that make us excited and yearn. I don't know who came up with the slogan "Porn not war", moral prejudice aside, we should all vote in favor.

Mrs. Henderson Presents quotes

  • Laura Henderson: Who on earth are you?

Leslie Pearkes: This is Vivian Van Damm.

Laura Henderson: Don't be silly. That's not a British name.

Vivian Van Damm: In actual fact, my father's a lawyer in Bishopsgate, although some of his ancestors are from Holland.

Laura Henderson: Oh, dear God, you're Jewish!

Vivian Van Damm: As it happens, I'm not.

Laura Henderson: Well, of course you are, dear. Just look at yourself.

  • Vivian Van Damm: Mustn't keep the Millerettes waiting.

Laura Henderson: Oh, that name is intolerable. It suggests midgets working in a factory.

Vivian Van Damm: Millettes sounds like a medical condition.
