In the eyes of the writers after Primeval's second season, the focus is undoubtedly on the little monsters.
I can't say it's not a good show. It can even be said to be a good sci-fi educational drama.
Students who have read it completely will have a certain understanding of various prehistoric creatures and their habits, such as eating grass or meat, whether they can fly, whether they like attacking people or not. In this regard, the students in the props group contributed greatly. As an extended version of Jurassic Park, some clips can definitely be displayed in biology class. There is even a plot where a male Tyrannosaurus rex eats a small Tyrannosaurus rex in one episode, which is still very professional.
In terms of plot setting, the first season did well. Suspense is just right. Helen's elusiveness, Cutter's inner struggle, Claudia's trade-off between an organization and a scientist, the small interaction between Abby, Connor and the handsome guy, the characters have their own personalities and are very distinct.
The main line basically fuses the time line elements that were popular at the time, such as lost, the monster elements that have always been fun, and the suspenseful layout of the dead in the crime drama = arresting the murder = case close, with guns, soldiers and heroes. In addition, the emotional elements between the main characters are advanced.
In terms of monsters, there are those who take the cruel route, those who take the cute route (such as rex, the first time I saw it, I think it is still feasible to raise a lizard), those who take the route of eating grass, and those who take the route of wisdom (such as A certain future creature), those who take the poisonous route, such as the giant centipede, from the layout point of view, the opening of the first season is still good.
Enter the second season. Speaking of element fusion, it was a plus in the first season, but the problem with fusion is that it becomes a hodgepodge of things that are fused.
The screenwriter may think that Helen's suspense seems to be too weak, so there are traces of the company in the Prison Break that we are familiar with. First, the interference of the military, and then the military factor as the villain seems to be not strong enough, so Helen is glorious. Bringing a group of clones back to the earth on the timeline, (clones, how many gorgeous elements are clones), upgraded from a field sister to a scientist, the dress inexplicably transformed into the gorgeous style of the gangster sister, and she started to walk left. Right Huang presented the tone of queen of the world, (it's not good to pretend to be B, it's really bad), but he still said that I did this to save the world.
From a mysterious scientist to a villain with a simple personality, the characters are facialized.
Then came the sociopath characters that appear in most movies, the little people waiting for an opportunity to rebel and want to become the master of the world. And then killed by the hero.
And then what's more amazing is that I don't know if the protagonist has provoked the screenwriter or the protagonist is out of time and has not been verified. The first male protagonist Cutter and the second largest male protagonist were eaten by monsters, and then killed. It's not often that the protagonist died so tragically. But just like in lost, where there is a timeline, there is a resurrection, so you can look forward to it.
What's even more amazing is that without a male protagonist, a new male protagonist is needed. The screenwriter may want to go the sportsman line. The new male protagonist Danny got is a little policeman. It's not that he's not handsome, but the tone of the whole play against little monsters suddenly changed. From an intelligent monster to an action monster, Ultraman has transformed.
In addition, the amazing thing is that in the process of fighting monsters in the action type, the original supporting characters, such as abby connor claudia (jenny), obviously showed the level of amateur players, such as not carrying a gun in the place where the monsters haunt. There is no organizational discipline in combat. In some episodes, the lab researcher mm was taken out for a day trip. No tactics, no backup troops, etc. As of the latest episode of the update, basically, monster-fighting has become a team. They exist as a collective. The personality of the individual has been weakened.
I've basically watched this show in fast-forward lately. Waiting for when the screenwriter can get lost and return to the suspenseful main line set in the first season. Only that artefact can still look forward to.
To sum it up, the first season was good. My favorite character from season two has been rex, the little flying lizard.
