Fate, amazing

Sometimes, life is so magical, a book, a piece of music, a piece of disc, somewhere, as if fate, meet you at a certain corner of life, a certain year, a certain month, a certain day.
I just started watching a blockbuster movie on IPTV and saw "Love You Hopelessly". First of all, I thought it was an entertainment film that could be used to pass the time. The striking WB mark of Warner Bros. made me more willing to sacrifice a precious night of reading time. Try it, but after reading the introduction, God, I was so pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be the movie version of POSSESSION that I watched not long ago. I never knew that there was a movie version of this book.
Surprisingly, the film is well done, and the editing and editing of the original book are just right, modern, ancient, two eras, two generations of lovers overlapping, British natural scenery, ancient buildings, the pure beauty of the Victorian era, books, poems, manuscripts, The humorous and subtle dialogue is beautiful to the heart. Such a cool night in the late summer and early autumn, because of this film, I warmly enjoy it, and I feel happy like bathing in the flames of a burning fireplace, as if people can be young enough to believe and look back - love.
The narrative style of the film is very slow, like a stream flowing silently in the inaccessible countryside, clear and unhurried.
Rowland, a literary research assistant in London, stumbled across a few pages of manuscripts from an ancient book from the London library. It was an unfinished letter by the great Victorian poet Ash, written to an unknown lady. Out of intuition, he began. In the process, they meet the female doctor Maud who specializes in the research of the female poet Lanmont. Through the research of various old diaries and poems, the two of them reveal little by little the inconsistency between Ash and Lanmont. The well-known secret feelings, even tracing the two poets' only honeymoon-like romantic trip to Yorkshire along the way, the feelings of the two modern people who are unavoidable in love are slowly blooming.
When I read the English version of this book two years ago, I was very attracted by the Victorian style of the written language. What impressed me the most was the paragraph describing the London library at the beginning. After reading those words, I couldn’t help but focus on it. Rows of tall bookshelves in the London library, books carry the fragrant smell of the years, the dust flying in the columnar sunlight through the windows... It seems that they are suddenly surrounded by you.
The language of the book is indeed very classical and beautiful. Of course, reading Victorian poetry is also a grueling thing. I admit, it was the hardest original novel I read, and I couldn't even read it the first time. Said to fully understand the story.
It was not until this year that I bought the excellent best-selling book "The Book of Hiddenness". After reading it for a while, I remembered something. The epiphany was POSSESSION. At that time, the Chinese translation was called "Possession". Now this movie is also called "Irredeemably in Love with You" or "Dream of Love". With so many names, I almost missed this movie tonight. However, fate is so wonderful. At different times, I unknowingly came across the original English version, the Chinese version and the movie.
The Chinese version is also very well translated. I really admire the translator's strength. The translation of such a book itself is a great test of willpower. I have already begun to shake my ideal of translation. It seems that it is easier to be a reader. Much happier. Not to mention the translation of those ancient poems, it is really smooth and charming, turning all the hidden charms in the astringent old English into flowing and natural words.
Let's talk about a detail in the movie. At the hotel in Yorkshire, at the beginning of the two people's elopement, after hugging, Lanmont said "NOT YET", I can't help but sigh about her reason and intelligence, because of this sentence, there are two People join hands to see Thomas Falls, go for a walk by the sea, and then have inspiration, brilliant poetry, brooches, traces of traces, and infinite romance that extends from a moment of love. If there is no whisper, It may make the relationship into a cliché, limited to the lingering lingering in the small hotel. A clever and charming statement, I think. It is also interesting to discover that the smile of the actor who played Lanmonte is very special, like a foreign version of Jiang Wenli, but in fact it doesn't quite match the book. The description of Lanmonte in the book is a bit masculine. It doesn't seem to be able to show it, but it feels good on the camera, and I still like it.
The ending of the novel is very surprising. The truth is revealed and at the same time, Maud finds his own secrets. At the end, there is a dialogue between Ash and the little girl. The golden hair gives people a sudden joy. Highly recommend this story, in reverse order of my timeline: the movie, the Chinese book, and finally, if you're not afraid to bite the bullet, the original.

Blackadder: ROLAND, asked for another day off, Fergus.

Fergus: Oh, really? Where's he gone?

Blackadder: I didn't ask, and he didn't say. He's an American for God's sake. He's probably off trafficking drugs.
