Just live your life in a way you feel comfortable with.

The film tells the story of a boy who grew up in the arms of his fanciful artist mother. After a series of family troubles, the boy was sent to be raised by his mother's psychiatrist.

At the psychiatrist's home, the boy experiences an unprecedented series of funny, sad, and nonsensical things brought on by people who are bizarre to insane.

After reading it, I want to say, perverted? Maybe yes, in a group of crazy people, if you are the only normal person, you will wonder if you are the other one.

This is normal. Everyone's living environment is different. Naturally, they see things from different angles, and their thoughts and behaviors will vary greatly.

In life, everyone tries to make themselves look normal, try to find people with similar labels to them as much as possible, or become one of the popular labels as much as possible, so as not to be alien in the eyes of others. However, long-term suppression of inner feelings (such as thoughts, anger) can lead to the other extreme.

Carol feels that it is better to face it calmly. For example, in the film, everyone works hard to live a life that they feel comfortable with.

Running with Scissors quotes

  • Agnes Finch: Natalie is not coming. I told her I'd deal with it.

Augusten Burroughs: Don't try to stop me, Agnes. I'm going. I'm going to miss you.

Agnes Finch: I'll miss you, too. You're a... the best son a mom could ever want. You need to know that.

[She hands him a small box filled with money]

Augusten Burroughs: Oh, my God. Agnes, there's - there's a lot of money here.

Agnes Finch: A penny here, a dime there. It adds up. The Doctor doesn't know I have it, of course. No one does. You know, this morning, the IRS came again. And I almost gave it to them. Then I though, "No. For once in my life, I'm going to invest wisely." When you write a book, you send me a copy. Goodbye, my sweet boy.

Augusten Burroughs: Agnes. What're you gonna do now?

Agnes Finch: I don't know. Maybe I'll take down the Christmas tree.

  • Augusten Burroughs: [to Natalie, trying to get her to confess her problems] TELL ME! SO I DON'T FEEL SO ALONE!
