The dark line of the story

I think that in the story, in addition to the experience of the two friends struggling to make a fortune together and finally being arrested, there is also a dark line that is not hidden.

Let's talk about the first half of the dark line: Albania has a batch of scary old munitions. Since it needs to be cleaned up before joining NATO, it wants to sell it. Henry, as his agent, was eager to find a buyer and focused on the world's largest arms buyer-the US military. The U.S. military also wants to accept these cheap goods, but it is restricted by another domestic system: Henry is on the watch list and cannot directly contact the U.S. military. The two parties decided to find a company to act as an intermediary for the transaction.

Next, let’s talk about the basis:

1. An order for 100 million bullets. This order is actually very interesting, the key is the quantity. Open Baidu to search for the consumption of bullets in the war, and you will find that this billion rounds of bullets is actually a very tasteless order. The tastelessness of the small bag company can't make it, and the big company thinks that the price is not affordable. In the movie, only the protagonist from the main perspective and AEY find it difficult to collect this amount. (Algeria has more than 700 munitions warehouses. This batch of bullets is just a stock of bullets in one warehouse. The US military has also mentioned that other biddings have been made.) . It is more like a small ambitious company like AEY.

2. At the end, Henry finds the protagonist again and gives a sum of money, which is more like wooing cooperation than thanks. This is very interesting, Henry is only on the watch list, not a wanted criminal. Except for the United States, he has no restrictions on doing business with other people. Why should he win over the protagonist? Obviously, he still has business to do with the United States.

Combining the first and second points of view, there is roughly an eyebrow for the second half of the dark line: I have determined to find an intermediary, then what kind of intermediary? Large companies will definitely not be able to do so, because the cost of handling is high, which deviates from the original intention of the US military to buy cheap goods. So it must be a small company, or a small company with ideas. After all, there are so many bargains in Albania, not one or two businesses can be completed. In this way, the order of 100 million bullets is more like a decoy. The US military releases the standard, and small companies with intentions must want to make it together. Then they will definitely go to Las Vegas to participate in the National Defense Technology Expo to find opportunities. This also echoes the first question asked by the protagonist at the end. It is not entirely a coincidence that Henry met the protagonist in Las Vegas. He is waiting for a small company that meets the conditions to take the bait. At the same time, the amount of 100 million bullets is also like a tentative transaction between the US military and Henry, and careful contact was made through AEY. Although the ending messed up the order because of the fat man's greed, the dark line was not exposed at all because of the protagonist's strict tone. So with the ending Henry came to the door, it shows that the military is still very satisfied with the confidentiality of the transaction with Henry and the protagonist, and still wants to continue to cooperate.

The other two went to the military to try that scene, which was also very meaningful. Generally, people who have bid and tender in the society know that obviously too low quotations are problematic, but the military officer has no doubts other than the cheap price, which shows that they have a good idea of the source of this batch of goods. What's more, what does the military reveal to AEY by clearly violating the rules during the interview? It shows that they think AEY already knows their position and role in this transaction. However, the fat man didn't know. He thought he was lucky to run into Henry in Las Vegas and picked up an Albanian bargain. In the case of the protagonist, the first question will be asked at the end, and he probably guessed the dark line. Finally Henry told him not to ask any more, I think it also means "what you guess is right".
