It's not about the spirit, it's about the soul

If the ending of this movie is designed according to Hitchcock's suspense novel, I think of Racheal returning to the lighthouse and discovering that nothing has ever happened, even if it is a confusing ending, we are always guessing whether the light keeper is a ghost reappearance or due to What about the hallucinations seen by Racheal's mental problems? But if it is an hallucination, why do people who died 7 or 8 years ago appear so clearly and even completely in their own eyes? Therefore, we believe that the foothold should belong to the relationship between human and ghost.
It's just a pity that the drowning son is always separated from his mother by yin and yang, but he has half-dreams and half-real hallucinations and deep guilt when he wakes up from a nightmare. The terrifying atmosphere created by the dead son turned out to be unreal, but there is still a kind of connection between the mother and the son.
The movie gives us a suspected ending of an extramarital affair, and turns all the beautiful speculation into a fantasy. It turned out to be a complete set of despicable murders. When Racheal slowly sank to the bottom of the sea, it was his son's reminder to let her escape and let his son's flashback. The spirit turns from true to false and back to true, but fortunately, there is no danger in the ending. The light keeper finally reappeared at the last minute. The tragedy of 7 or 8 years ago was staged again, and 3 people died overnight.
I don't want to pursue the ending and plot of the story, and it doesn't matter whether the Shining is true or false. I am amazed that I love the filming location so much, Llanddwyn Island in North Wales, England, watching the sea breeze, sea water, reefs, seaside cottages, horses , Under the lens, it forms a harmonious picture that is indistinguishable from the world and supernatural. There is stillness in the movement, and there is movement in the stillness. I happened to be in a depressed mood that night. I didn't expect that after watching the film, I felt very relaxed, and I seemed to be perfect myself, so I smiled bitterly :)

Half Light quotes

  • Rachel Carlson: Why is it everyone paints their boats the exact same color as their houses?

Angus McCulloch: Well, that's actually a tradition here. The wife needs to be able to look out on the water and know her husband's okay.

    Rachel Carlson: That's very romantic.

Angus McCulloch: And we also get a tax-break on the paint, which is also very romantic.
