Suspense + a large number of political metaphors under the sci-fi skin

I saw this movie in the category of suspense movies, and the rating was not high. I opened this movie with a casual look. I saw half of it but thought it was a science fiction film with a suspenseful appearance. When I watched the whole film again, driven by the desire to explore the final result, I was shocked by the content of the film. I realized that this is not a pure science fiction film. In fact, it wants to say much more than that. .
The director interspersed a lot of political metaphors, the names of various characters (it was very strange at first, why are they called Mr.Book, Mr.Sleep, Mr.Hand?), the content of women's songs (especially the second song), memories The design of Shell Beach (the recurring Shell Beach symbolizes the bright future promised to the people by the people in power, but does not tell you how to get there), etc. are all intentional. For all the people living in this world, the people in power (outside the Stars, they have so-called collectivist ideas) through books (the most powerful weapon, representing all kinds of publications and media), dark night, hypnosis (the evil little boy Mr. Sleep), walls, hands (the names of the main villains) ) And a series of means, through the hands of intellectuals (the Doctor in this film, who is weak and forced but possesses technology that the incumbent does not possess) firmly control all living beings, and let them decide everyone At the same time, under the guidance of the so-called collective thought, one skyscraper after another was built, and it was intoxicated.
The male protagonist in the film and the police officer who is regarded as a lunatic symbolize the unconfused people among all living beings. They have seen everything but have no alternative. Everyone around them thinks that the problem is not themselves but them, being all living beings. When they fell asleep due to Tunning, these people could not wake them up at all, and this type of people may only have two options. One way is to commit suicide and escape like a mad police officer, and the other way is to fight to the end like a male protagonist. . The so-called Tunning ability is actually the ability that can be finally realized according to individual will and continuous efforts for it, but under the control of collective thought, this ability that should be possessed as a person appears so rare and powerful. Most people are controlled by various means by those in power. Their own ideas are not important, but they are important to submit to the collective will. Those in power are so confident in their ability to control, so that after a person jumps out , They couldn't believe it at all, thinking that he had evolved, and this kind of evolution should have gone through several generations to be gradually completed.
Why does the Doctor say that they (those in power) are afraid of water, perhaps water represents change and instability, so it is very difficult to control. And why do they like the dark night, I think you know this. In the end, the director responded to this. The people eventually became a vast ocean, not just a few splashes in the swimming pool, and the night that was difficult to show was replaced by the splendid light. Each of us pursued it according to our own will. Live the life you want (the hero deliberately meets the heroine in Shell Beach), and this should be the way the world is.
Are we the masses in the film? Maybe it is. But do we want to be such a large number of beings? Absolutely not!
