The ending is really shocking. Everything was well planned but unexpectedly unexpected. This perfect escape can only happen in the imagination. All but the boy died in the end. Maybe he represented the old man's daughter. He wants to save those he protects.
At first I thought it was a movie like jailbreak, but it was an accident. It's almost impossible to watch the lack of like it's not like that.
