"No" and "Very" Bergman

Yesterday I went to the Bergman Film Festival and saw a lot of acquaintances:
Ma Qingpi and Mr. Hai, who had an appointment together, needless to say,
I saw Yuan Quan by accident, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I saw my other female partner in the long queue in the women's toilet.
At the end of the show, I saw my female leader and Li Qiang.
Although the golden age of cinema has passed and the great masters have fallen,
Bergman is still a very magical name.
In other words, it is precisely because of the fall of the halo of the movie that
all those who admire the glory of the master and the holy shadow of the movie will come here to pay their respects.

I watched two shows, one was "Smile of a Summer Night" and the other was "Masquerade".
Eleven years apart, these two films are very different, and they complement each other.
"Summer" I haven't seen, it's actually a comedy, a light-hearted melodrama, the
story is cleverly woven, every character suffers for their own love, especially the women,
speaking Wilde-style lines, full of show off The wasteful ingenuity of
this is the afterimage of the last nobility, just like that era.
In the end, everyone was happy, like a Shakespeare comedy,
and that happy, indulgent and intelligent groom always reminded me of Falstaff,
like a reclusive Dionysian in the folk, with the spirit of joyful existence.
It makes me think that even though many of Bergman's films "don't tell stories", it
's not because he "couldn't tell stories," on the contrary, his stories are very well told.
Those who imitate the wreck of Bergmann just lack such a process and skill.

Yes, this one is very "not" Bergman,
but from this one can see the shadow of "becoming" Bergman.
Even in the tightly woven plot, there are still gaps that ooze Bergman's flavor:
Suddenly time stopped, and the young bride, bored in the mansion where she was imprisoned, began sleepwalking.
The Countess who made a surprise visit, a character who only appeared in the middle of the movie, was expressing her love and hatred fiercely, and
the close-up approached her face a little bit. Her face was full of distinct vigor and determination.
The summer night is going on grandly, and the summer night is disappearing again. It is said that in the room where the king lived, the
clock bounced, clumsy and strange angels, the god of death appeared one by one, and the light disappeared.
The half-old husband, hiding in the dark, watched his little bride and son run away on a horse, the
shadows flowed across his face little by little, his heart swelled and ached because of love.

Enjoyed the time to watch movies.
No matter whether I can enter the movie or not, even if it is boring and keeps turning around,
it will take me out of my original life.
They superimpose my life, and
I am grateful for this brief detachment.

Only someone who has experienced countless love experiences can make such insightful pessimistic comedy. Love is a pretense, but you still have to love; human beings are disgusting, but you still have to live. Bergman uses the third smile of a summer night to taunt the audience off-screen: you lonely and desperate people, you still have to make a cup of coffee for breakfast after a sleepless night. The strong drama in the film points out all the falsehoods: "As You Like It" on the side of the footlights is not like this in real life outside the doll theater!

Three dislocations of love are intertwined, and the lack of love almost makes the male protagonist commit suicide. It may only be by chance that Xia Ye's smile will show its charming color. The seemingly happy ending is actually too much unsatisfactory processing and beautification.

Smiles of a Summer Night quotes

  • Frid the Groom: We invoke love, call out to it, beg for it, cry for it, try to mimic it. We think we own it and tell lies about it.

Petra the Maid: But we don't have it.

Frid the Groom: No my sugar pie. We are denied the love of loving. We don't have the gift.

Petra the Maid: Nor the punishment.

  • Carl Magnus: I shall be faithful for at least seven eternities of pleasure, eighteen false smiles and fifty-seven tender whisperings without meaning. I shall remain faithful until the big yawn do us part. In short, I shall remain faithful in my way.
