This is the end of the disc

It is said that the original ending was: After the
mother found out the truth, she poured her daughter a lot of sleeping pills, and then drank the bombs herself. The mother died and the daughter was brought back to life. Personally, I feel that this ending is far more exciting than the current ending of "Too many injustices must be closed to oneself". It fully expresses the atmosphere of darkness, death, and ferociousness. It is enough for DISC.
It is estimated that the Hollywood film review system in the 1950s was still very strict. The ending could not be accepted by the broad audience who had good intentions at the time, so the director deliberately modified a Chinese-style ending where good and evil will be rewarded.

The Bad Seed quotes

  • Leroy Jessup: [after Mrs. Breedlove is out of earshot] Ooh, that ol' know-it-all Monica Breedlove! Thinks don't nobody know anything but her!

    [scoffs]

Leroy Jessup: ... Well, she ain't got long to go, anyway.

[Leroy grins in a perverted manner as he sits down on the lawn]

Leroy Jessup: But that young trough-fed Mrs. Penmark?... She might get kinda lonely with that soldier-boy o' hers gone! Yes sir... she might. Now, that Rhoda... she's a smart one. Smarter than most of 'em, that's for sure! She sees through me... and I see through her! Swallow me a frog, but she's smart, huh?

  • Monica Breedlove: Oh, whatever will be done, will be done...
