Buñuel was influenced by Desica's Shoe Shine Boy. This is a cruel film, and after watching it, I feel depressed and depressed. So it's not surprising that it was criticized and questioned by audiences and critics alike when it was released in Mexico. Buñuel once described: Many viewers came out of the theater after watching the film with expressions on their faces as if their parents had just returned from a funeral. Some friends never talked to him again after watching it...

Fortunately, there were two "big men" who supported Buñuel at that time and greatly praised the film. One is Pudovkin and the other is the Mexican poet Paz. As a result of their drive, the public opinion was at the helm and received rave reviews (what an irony), until the film won the Cannes Best Director Award and the International Critics Award. When it was released again in Mexico, it was sold out for two months (another irony).

The film Buñuel has two endings. Another ending: Pedro and Iber fought in the bullpen, and Pedro mistakenly killed Iber. The last shot is of Pedro walking towards the Laogai farm. A typical "deserved", a relatively bright ending. Presumably this is the version shown in the second release.

The first ending is brutal and ruthless, the second is clichéd.
