There is no doubt that Shinji is a big idiot (at least no one I know likes him). But when I saw this big idiot trying to strangle Asuka in the end and failed, I couldn't hold back and almost cried. This is because I am also a big idiot. One of the great significance of watching movies is that you can see many people who are as idiotic as you. Although they are scolded by me and you off the screen and reduced to a piece of shit, but they are on the screen. In this sense, the movie gives us the courage to live.
