stoning and the status of women

Don't act hypocritical, don't think that by reciting the Qur'an aloud, you can cover up lies - Hafez, a 14th-century Iranian poet.

Logically, there is no right to interfere with the beliefs of others, and there is no need to question them, but there is always doubt in their hearts: Are those Catholics who can turn over 10% of their monthly income to the church because of their loyalty to God? Is it a way for Muslims to turn themselves into human bombs and smash them to pieces? I don't know what forces created the body bomb, but Catholics turn in their income because they believe that will lead to God's blessing in exchange for greater value and reward.

In the film, the village chief helps Zhou to abuse, clearly understands Soraya's character, and clearly knows that it is an unfounded crime, but still supports "honor murder". Before the execution he went to pray: If we do what you will, please give me the strength to do it, and guide me to do what I strive for; if it is against your will, please give me an instruction, so that I can stop it. It's absurd to actually ask the statue for instructions. Is this the way to gain inner peace? This is an atrocity in the name of God!

"Soraya was stoned to death" is bloodier than a horror movie. Watching the movie is a torment that cannot be faced, and the heart also trembles. The only thing that can ease my mood is that this incident happened in the 1980s, when I was in elementary and junior high school, more than 30 years ago, and things should have changed now! The film was released in 2008, and the director subtitled at the end of the film "Despite official denials, untold numbers of people, mostly women, continue to be put to death by stoning in many countries in the world." Sakine Mohammad Di Ashtiani, an Iranian widow with two children, was sentenced to 99 strokes of the cane for having "improper relations" with two men after her husband died. In late 2006, she was accused of murdering her husband with one of her lovers, a charge that was dropped due to insufficient evidence. But a five-judge committee reopened its investigation into the adultery, and by a 3-2 majority voted to stoning. This matter has aroused widespread concern in the international community. France and EU partner countries have jointly studied her case and tried every possible way to avoid the final implementation of the stoning. Ashtiani was released on December 8, 2010. Hopefully Ashtiani will never be stoned again.

The cruelty of the film is not only in the stoning itself, but also in human feelings. Before she died, Soraya complained: "How can you treat me like this, I am your neighbor, your mother, your daughter, your wife..." And it was her father, son, husband, neighbour! The first is her father, who keeps cutting off the relationship between father and daughter, eager to draw a clear line of righteousness and extermination; the second is her husband with a broken conscience, who only covered the sky with his hands and planned this conspiracy. A straight hit between Soraya's eyebrows, blood gurgling from the hole between the eyebrows; the two sons threw stones mercilessly and decisively at the same time, announcing their "growth" and their authority over women; and then the stones of all the onlookers. Blocks, pouring in... Soraya was crushed to death and was not allowed to be buried. Her bones were dumped by the river and served as a meal for wild dogs, and there was little left in the next morning.

So how did Soraya's husband Ali plan this incident? He named Soraya "adultery" and required two witnesses. So he blackmailed the village's Mullah (priest), because he knew that the priest was a prisoner, and this was the first witness; then he instigated Soraya's employer to make up the facts and frame Soraya, threatening him to let him go if he didn't. His son was orphaned and there was a second witness. Ali works in the prison. He drives his car to and from the village. He has power and money, and the village chief also obeys him. It's done. And Ali's purpose is to get rid of Soraya, abandon their daughters, and marry the daughter of a 14-year-old executed prisoner.

Camus said in "The Plague" that "the evil in the world is almost always caused by ignorance". However, the crime in this film is not caused by ignorance, everyone knows the truth, but everyone fabricated such an unwarranted crime and made an innocent mother sentenced to death. Adults' moral standards of right and wrong are vulnerable, and once they collide with aspects that affect their own interests, they all go to the side of self-interest. So was Mullah, so was Soraya's seemingly honest employer. It was obviously Soraya who came to help him cook and take care of his son after his wife passed away. In the end, he could openly frame and help him just for a completely unformed threat to "keep his son from being an orphan". his "beneficiary".

It is said that stoning stipulates that the client should be arrested in public and have 4 witnesses. Perhaps the French journalists have misunderstood stoning, and the language and description of the book may be extreme and exaggerated, but this does not make the "stoning" rational. Is this just an incident in Kupayeh village? Is this just Iran's internal affairs? Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan said, "No country or government has the right to hide behind national sovereignty and violate human rights. This is a matter of the world, and it is an incident where women are bullied and bullied all over the world. You think that women's status has improved, Do they have the same rights and status as men? Do you think that some men in China are afraid of their wives because women liberate women and improve women's status? When women are looking for jobs, aren't they excluded because of their reproductive age or to take care of their children? As a mother of a child, is it not because she is full-time at home that she is not financially independent, or she is exhausted to balance work and take care of the family? Isn’t the salary of women equally lower than that of male employees for the same work?

That is, a few days after watching the film, a singer named Leehom Wang divorced his wife who gave birth to 3 children for him. He wanted to protect his pre-marital property. Lived until the child turned 18... As a result, this matter caused a lot of uproar, and his wife broke the news that he had cheated on him many times in his private life. The evidence is conclusive. It seemed that the wife was a complete victory. After the incident, thousands of sailors poured out on the Internet, and began to scold her as a "fraudulent marriage". Male colleagues in the company also complained about Wang's singer, "He didn't do anything wrong." The fault lies with the woman, the fault lies in the woman giving birth to the child, and the fault lies in the woman raising the child!

In the 21st century, the status of women is not much better. To truly achieve equal rights between men and women, we really have to wait until Rousseau's ideal world has no marriage system, and women do not have children. Even if they do, they will be handed over to the society. upbringing.
