Finally, under the endless calls, EE's BRAZIL made its debut. Although the configuration is still not perfect in terms of duality, neither the guide-cut feature film nor the guide subtitles of LOVE CONQUERS ALL are done, and I want to treat this film with CC’s grand attitude, since I have done BOXSET, it will not even Not even a BROCHURE, if so, why not do it or at least put a scanned copy?
I couldn't wait to take out this film yesterday and scan it. First I scanned the DISC2 Highlights D. Someone previously complained that there are too few video highlights and the capacity is small. The capacity is indeed less than 6G. The text highlights and SCRIPT account for a large proportion, but there are still two relatively heavy tidbits, a more than 50 points about the background of the film, especially the film’s editing rights between the director and the UNIVERSAL The contradictory tidbits, I really admire CC's ability, and invited both parties to comment on the grievances of the year, and they insisted on their own words, and all of them were plausible. There is also a sidebar called WHAT IS BRAZIL, which is about 30 minutes in length. It is mentioned that the name of the film comes from a song called THE BRAZIL, which also appears many times in the film. In addition, there are some small tidbits about the composer MICHAEL KAMEN (this person has passed away). Generally speaking, I think it is good in terms of the richness of the highlights, which basically meets my requirements. Of course, it would be perfect if you can do the subtitles for the guide. And I listened to the comments in the guide. Although there are no English subtitles for reference, the speaking speed is not fast. Basically, I can listen to and translate in English level 8. , So it is not impossible to do it. In fact, LOVE CONQURES ALL does not have English subtitles in the MS, including the extravaganza, and it has not been translated as well. Why can't I work hard to translate the guide to the listening translation? There is still room for shuffling the cards. If you really want to shuffle, you won’t be able to shuffle.
After watching Trivia D, I took out DISC3’s LOVE CONQUERS ALL, because some people said that this was a bit redundant, but on the surface it is indeed true, because this feature film actually includes the version of GILLIAM’s refusal to add the paragraph. Including different OPEING and ALTERNATE ENDING (The version of this film released in Europe and the United States is different, and the version of 142MIN in DISC1 is the version that the director thinks best reflects his creative intentions. Because LOVE CONQUERS ALL is not very long, and It was about 93MIN, so with the purpose of admiring Brazil and studying the intention of different versions, I saw this version in one go. I feel that this version does exist in the depth of thought and the portrayal of the spiritual world of the characters with the guide editing version. There is a big gap, especially the lack of an important surreal actor fighting a Japanese samurai for the lover of his dream (although that paragraph was quite incomprehensible when I first saw it), and there are many other paragraphs. There are also cuts, which greatly compromises the critical spirit of the film. Of course, if there is no guide cut version for comparison, the viewability of the version is still quite strong, and the overall frame of the story is also preserved. However, there is something that cannot be tolerated. Yes, HAPPY ENDING was used at the end of LOVE CONQUERS ALL, which suddenly weakened the film’s strong critical awareness of state dictatorship, bureaucracy, and the black postmodernist style, making the whole film look a bit like an American soap opera. I’m afraid It is also the reason why GILLIAM is so difficult to accept this version.
