"Delhi Crime", this is a very heavy and sad series, adapted from the real gang rape murder case in India that shocked the international community at the end of 2012. This drama depicts the 12 hours before the incident to the six days when all the murderers were arrested. Just the face of the victim and the statement of the facts of the victimization are enough to make people cry. The writer-director wants to reveal to the public the deep reasons behind the crime of this tragedy, as well as the truths that do not appear in one-sided news reports.
From the attitude of the police in handling cases, how the media public opinion intensifies the public, and the role politicians play in it, it is exposing a part of the microcosm and phenomenon of Indian society and culture. There are no bloody plots or scenes in the play, but is based on the contrast of the characters' lives and the differences in the social class system, and a large number of real events are restored.
Those cruel, rude, and ignorant criminals, after being arrested, some cry, some confess their crimes, and they will die anyway. The fact is that the death penalty cannot stop crime, as long as there is caste, wealth gap, gender discrimination, such cases will never go away. When there are institutional defects in society, the disadvantaged groups always bear the brunt. Violent treatment of women and children is neither accidental nor unique.
The righteous people, eager to lynch their perpetrators, are eager to kill the unseemly vermin. Politicians are delighted to see the hunt, and think it's a perfect time to seize power. The surviving male victims, who feel they are "heroes", deserve to be heard. And amid the rumors and anger everywhere, the public even believed that the only juvenile suspect who was not sentenced to death was the one who really shot the murder.
In the wake of the notorious crime in Delhi, sexual assault laws in India have become stricter. But what has changed?
"I assure you, this country is no different from yesterday." "That's the problem! Mom!" "Too slow!"
The society in which we live has an unchangeable social structure and bad cultural habits, and this society will have inequality and reveal more of the dark side of the bottom of society. There are still evil people, but we must not distort and magnify our fears, and we must not see them.
