Looking at the short reviews, a lot of people are surprised that Cleo can go through so much in just two hours, but I don't think so at all. For me, there are many moments of relief in life that come from short walks. Therefore, the film presented in the form of a walk was a very natural and comfortable experience for me, as if I had walked the streets of Paris. Those unfamiliar faces, vivid and eerie acrobatics, crowds, stores, shopping mall mirrors, Varda's shots have a kind of alienation, but inexplicably close.
Cleo was always in fear and sadness about death, repulsing all words and images that would arouse her fear, like a bird that could be frightened at any time, without a branch to rely on. What the agent Angela and her work partners see is only her bright side as a singer, and their love only comes from this. They couldn't understand why Cleo had already got everything they wanted, but he was still so pretentious, worrying about a disease that had not yet determined the outcome. "You are a spoiled child," said the composer. In their eyes, Cleo's fears were childish and vexatious.
Besides Anthony, my favorite character in the movie is Doroth. When the two were driving on the streets of Paris, they could see the very different personalities of the two friends from the two completely different faces displayed in the picture. Dorot's eyebrows were stretched, his eyes were carefree, and his fluffy curly hair was flowing in the wind; while Cleo's brows were furrowed, his features were delicate but hollow, and his short golden hair was weakly attached to his cheeks. Many of Cleo's fears, when told to Dorora, take on another perspective.
"I just heard my song playing in the coffee shop, but no one was paying attention." (Cleo always only sees himself, pampered and noticed)
"That's not a concert hall!" (Sane people can distinguish the boundaries of their own self, and they don't need to incorporate their own imagination in any situation)
So did her boyfriend. Both were warm and generous with smiles on their faces. They invite Cleo to watch the comedy they just finished filming, and when Cleo sticks his head out, he finds the couple hugging and laughing.
Cleo sent Dorot home and watched her running forward without looking back after getting out of the car. That moment also touched me, vaguely overwhelmed by sadness—I may never be someone like Dorot, whose back is so light and carefree. And with her departure, Cleo was shrouded in grief again.
Anthony, who came out last, became Cleo's redemption. But why does a woman's liberation always depend on a man? Saved by love? Anthony's appearance is like the sound of water in the park, fresh, gentle and calming. Good love is generally similar, starting from their own experiences and emotions, achieving equal blending, and in the process of exchanging experiences and feelings, achieving a sense of spiritual harmony, all the past clouds, in that moment, have a place to go. But next time, I want to be my own Anthony, I want to fall in love with the world, I want to learn about Lebanon and Paulownia myself, and I want to tell them to the world.
