Completely different from what was expected. What I expected was a "A Bite of China"-style documentary about ingredients and cooking methods, but it turned out to be a documentary about the chef's life story.
It is extremely difficult to reach the top of the pyramid in his own field. It is also rare for the director to let the six chefs show their weakest and most vulnerable side in front of the camera. But I'm still a little confused. It seems equally logical to put such a story on the most successful artist and the most successful businessman. Persistence, self-discovery, innovation, these are universally applicable, why do you have to choose a chef? If it is because food crosses borders and is the most attractive theme, then put more food.
Finally, after seeing the creations of these chefs, what I most want to try is Niki san's innovative kaiseki cuisine.
