Just like Fellini's later works, the film is full of Fellini's own imaginings of history, and can be called a Roman style painting of the first century AD. A fantasy Odyssey in which young people are sinking into the sea, the fragmented adventure journey presents ancient Rome with excesses, brutality and bloodshed, and class oppression. Emphasis on material things, light on spirit, life is just a dream of seeking pleasure, all sensory enjoyment seems to be the highest life goal of the ancient Romans. "Food and Sexuality" was presented nakedly, which made me feel sick to my stomach, especially the gluttonous food on the sea, land and air at the rich man's feast, which looked filthy, but made me miss the light diet. Philosophers and artists are poor; it is too ironic to make a fortune by cheating. Plump women, amorous music, dramatic performances, witchcraft complexes, divine beliefs, and juvenile growth, these iconic elements of Fellini reappear in "The Myth of Love". The exposed dress, the broken and empty interior, the sandy exterior, the crowded cabin... The picture of the film has no beauty, does it represent the ancient Rome in the director's mind? However, at the end of the film, the male protagonist was cured of his weakness and sailed to Africa by boat, which also heralded a generation of young people out of the quagmire of desire and toward a positive life. Such a rebirth made people see hope.
