Chapter 10 Ideology (Gay Liberation)

Few people outside of show business knew that Montgomery Cliff and Rock Hudson were gay because they thought publicity would undermine the credibility of their lead roles in love dramas.

Rock Hudson's long acting career was known as an action-adventure hero, romance hero, and deft light comedian. His handsome face and masculine demeanor made him popular with both men and women. His homosexuality is well known in film circles, but still popular in the industry. Most of the public who liked him didn't realize his sexuality until he got AIDS. In 1985, he finally announced his sexual orientation before his death, which created a new atmosphere in the United States, and the whole society finally began to seriously face AIDS. Of course, this kind of secrecy makes them blackmailed - radical homosexuals therefore insist that the truth be revealed.

A very nice romantic comedy, the split screen and tone handling are very comfortable, and it is not without reason that the box office is a big hit

Nowadays, people's clothes are not as delicate, exquisite and good-looking as those of that era. The plots of the movie are not fresh, and the scenes are pitiful, but they have tinkered with enough interesting dramatic conflicts to make the movie look good. The male protagonist is too handsome, but unfortunately the female protagonist is ugly and old. If it is replaced by Monroe, there will be no cure.

Pillow Talk quotes

  • Jan: Can you believe that? They sent a woman. That's like sending a marshmallow to put out a bonfire.

  • Brad Allen: [on the phone pretending to be Rex] Am I gonna see you tonight?

Jan: I'd love to Rex, but I already have a date.

    Brad Allen: Who with?

Jan: A client. You don't know him. Jonathan Forbes.

Brad Allen: Of course, you're not the kind of girl who would break a date.

    Jan: No I'm not.

Brad Allen: And I ain't the kinda guy who'd ask you to.

    Jan: I know you're not.

Brad Allen: I'll pick you up at 8.

    Jan: I'll be ready.
