"Ghosts" trilogy

"The Evil Dead" in 1981 is perhaps the most classic cult movie in history.

She has the typical characteristics of cult movies, with small investment and limited shooting. The producer loves movies very much, with unique methods and can do everything.

Sam Raimi, the director of "The Evil Dead", was 22 years old when he shot this movie. The material scarcity of movies can be seen everywhere.

The movie was lined up with very rudimentary cameras. After digital restoration today, it still looks like a home video tape.

The funding of the film is obviously limited, so most of the plot can only be completed in a small wooden house and surrounding groves. At the beginning of the movie, the car driving over the iron bridge is one of the few exterior scenes in the movie. However, in this scene, in the uninhabited field, there are passers-by passing by. It can also be seen that there was a lack of funds when shooting this movie.

However, the director Sam obviously loves movies very much. He has put a lot of effort into the use of camera and sound.

And these are the most fundamental means for movies to impress people.

So this movie is very moving and makes movie fans worship.

For example, before the demon appeared. Flirting between the actor Ash and the heroine Cheryl. Ash held the ring box to sleep. Cheryl was by his side, sneaking to get the ring box, while peeking at Ash's glasses. Ash was also watching Cheryl's movements secretly.

Sam used a quick switch of close-ups. This big close-up is not a close-up of the face, but a close-up of the eyes as large as possible. Cheryl's big beautiful glasses filled the screen, turning playfully.

This set of shots is very moving, bringing out the relationship and feelings of the two people. I was very impressed. In fact, I can't think of a few love scenes that can be compared with this one.

And such creative use of lens (and the use of sound) is endless in movies.

Another aspect of the movie is almost uncontrolled violence and blood, of course after the appearance of the devil. The movie does not avoid scenes such as blood spraying on a person, or a shot that knocks off a person's head in half.

I believe these shots were very shocking in the early 1980s, which is why the director used these shots. But now, after having "Saw", "Hostel" and "The Hills Have Eyes", these bloodlines don't seem to be too special.

But Sam’s creative film language cannot be imitated by later generations, even he himself. It seems that Sam has used up all his creativity in the first two episodes of Gui Wanren. But even so, Sam is still a great director.

"The Evil Dead II" is more exciting than the first episode in some ways. It only took five minutes to tell the story of the first episode from the beginning of the film. Note that it is a retelling, not a re-editing. Then immediately continue the unfinished story of the first episode.

In the first episode, there was a lot of foreshadowing at the beginning, and then the evil spirits appeared. In the second episode, Ash has been entangled with evil spirits from the beginning. The rhythm is much faster than the first episode.

Like the accelerated pace, the director’s creative ideas are also richer. When watching a movie, sometimes it feels like Sam is afraid that his creativity is useless, and every lens has to make a little difference.

The result is that this movie is breathless.

In this episode, Ash lost a hand, actually he saw it down with a chainsaw. Of course, when sawing hands, according to the style of "The Evil Dead II", the camera will not shake to the ceiling, but will stare at Ash saw his own hands. Then, Ash mounted the chainsaw on the arm without a hand, turning the severed hand into a more powerful weapon. This setting can be seen in many later works.

"The Evil Dead 3" is still Sam's director, but changed the producer and was released by MGM. The first two episodes were made by little-known companies. This makes the third episode completely different from the first two episodes. The first two episodes are all stories in the cabin. But the third episode returns to the Middle Ages, Ash led the knight and the devil to fight. With the increase in production funding, the film is no longer bloody, and the shotgun hits the devil's head, and it won't coax half of the head. On the other hand, the spirituality and creativity of the film language have also disappeared. This is a very ordinary magic movie.

If you like the first two episodes of "The Evil Dead", you don't need to watch the third episode at all. If you find the stories in the first two episodes a bit interesting, but too bloody, then the third episode is for you.

Sam Raimi, the director of the trilogy, made the film very early and became famous through the "The Evil Dead" series. However, he has not made many films as a director, basically one film every two or three years. The movie he is currently making is also a series, and very exciting, but completely different from the "The Evil Dead" series.

Sam is the director of the "Spider man" series.

The scores of "The Evil Dead" trilogy on IMDB are 7.4 (20101 people vote), 7.8 (21195 people vote), 7.5 (29,050 people vote).

I give 7 points, 7 points, and 3 points respectively.
