Adolescence is a disaster

Recently, I watched the old TV series My So Called Life on ABC online. It was released in 1994-95 and starred Claire Danes. It can be regarded as the American version of "Sixteen Years Old Flower Season".

It only broadcasts one season of TV, but it is the most classic youth in history. The film, the real fragility, the deep confusion, the passion... It seems that I have relived my adolescence. I can only say that adolescence is a disaster, and we are all survivors. If it happens again, I am not sure I can handle it myself.

Angela Chase is a 15-year-old high school girl with all the sensitive inferiority complexes and insecurities of any adolescent girl, a seemingly perfect family full of contradictions, especially a hysterical mother, a few close friends, and all the girls. She has had a crush on someone, and a crush on her. At the beginning of the first episode, she confessed: "I'm in love. His name is Jordan Catalano. He was left back. Twice. Once I almost touched his shoulder in the middle of a pop quiz".

This Jordan Catalano, with the characteristics of all girls' crushes, is handsome and uninhibited, plays music, has affectionate eyes and a sculptural face contour, which can make all female audiences look at Angela together He fell in love with suffocation. Angela once said, "you are so beautiful that it hurts to look at you", and this sentence could not be more appropriate for Jordan, he really has a beauty that makes people see heartbreak. Many times, Jordon's image is shaped through close-up close-ups, putting the audience into Angela's perspective, and it is difficult not to love Jordon.

One of my favorite clips is Jordan walking towards Angela from the other end of the long aisle. She looks at him from time to time, fiddling with her hair nervously. Jordan walked over to Angela and said in a soft voice "Can we." ..go somewhere...", in Angela's words, let me do anything at this time. This is the first time Jordon publicly expresses his attitude to Angela, of course Angela is sweet and self-conscious, nodding and agreeing. As he walked, Jordan grabbed Angela's hand on the way, and my mood flew into the sky just like Angela's.

TV in the early 90s now looks just right nostalgic, especially Jordan often wears loose clothes The flannel big plaid blue and white shirt reminds me of my middle school days and idols at that time. MSCL is a film that resonates too easily for girls, at least it has a deep impact on me. If it weren't for it, I would forget it What have you been through in your adolescence.

Loved Angela's confession in the first two episodes:

"school is a battle field....for your heart"

"Cafeteria is the embarrassment capital of the world. It's like a prison movie."

"My parents keep asking how school was. it's like saying "how was that drive-by shooting?". you don't care about how it was, you are lucky to get out alive."

"Lately I can't even look at my mother without wanting to stab her... repeatedly."

"If Jordan Catalano is, like, nearby, my entire body knows it."

"What's amazing is when you can feel your life going somewhere, like your life just figured out how to get good, like, that second."

  • Rayanne: You wanna have sex with him.

    Angela: Who?

Rayanne: Who. Jordan. Catalano. Come on, I'm not gonna tell anyone, just admit it.

Angela: I just like how he's always leaning. Against stuff. He leans great. Well, either sex or a conversation. Ideally both.

  • First Bathroom Girl: Wait, so what's fat-free?
