Days passed like this. One afternoon, ALVARO was playing with an insect on the beach in front of his door and explained to ALEX that it was a very special insect, a rare species. Unexpectedly, this remark angered ALEX. She crushed the insect with her thumb and ran back to the small attic of her home without looking back. Alvaro, surprised and guilty, also chased into the attic. There, however, the emotions of the two teenagers exploded, and they made love intensely. But the position of making love is shocking - ALEX is on top, ALVARO is on the bottom, "she" is on "him".
All this was noticed by ALEX's father who had noticed it. The two teenagers also found ALEX's father at the stairs of the attic. ALEX always hides from ALVARO after this attic incident. During a walk by the sea, ALEX encountered a few hooligans who pinned ALEX to the ground and took off her pants to find out. At this time, ALEX's "former friend" VANDO arrived, and he chased away the hooligans and sent ALEX home. Angry ALEX's father found the hooligans, beat them and warned them: Stay away from my son! ALVARO's father asked him why he didn't want to leave, if he was in love with ALEX. ALVARO did not answer, it was the default. The next day, the Alvaro family left, and the ALEX family took them to the port. The adults said goodbye to the adults, and ALVARO said goodbye to ALEX. ALVARO asks: Can we still meet? I've always thought that Latinos are the most performative crowd. They are expressive, enthusiastic and bold, and every move has a strong sense of drama. And the beautiful Latin is undoubtedly one of the best languages for expressing emotions. Whenever I see them spit out Latin like they are dancing with machine guns, I always feel inexplicably happy and happy. And this Argentine "XXY" made me see the other side of Latin people, the introverted side, the deep side, and the humanistic side. I think every actor in the film performed very well, whether it was ALEX and ALVARO's mother who didn't have much room to play, the supporting role VANDO, and even the performances of the little hooligans were all in place. Of course, the most outstanding is the 3 leading actors, ALEX, ALVARO and ALEX's father. The confused and easily injured bisexual girl, the introverted and silent boy, and the deep and generous father have all been fully explained by their superb performances. Especially the player of ALEX, Inés Efron, the appearance and expression are somewhat similar to the captain of the Argentine women's football team who became popular in China not long ago because of the Women's World Cup, and the girl of EVA GONZALEZ who takes all men and women. This complex and rich character is vivid and full. In the film, the slightly depressing and melancholy style, the plain camera language and the ethereal and tactful soundtrack all set off the serious and solemn theme that the film wants to express. It makes people feel as if they can smell the salty and humid sea breeze, the cold and dry air, the white sandy beach, the blue sea, and the gray seaside huts.
This film will represent Argentina in next year's Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film, and if I were a judge at the Oscars, I would be happy to cast my vote for him.
