Honestly, I don't think this movie is really about body image. Yes, it is about getting healthier, getting fit, becoming that image you have for yourself. But it is also about living with insecurity, even when times get rough, even when you seem to get over it but inside you still feel it strongly all the damn time. Everything is a reminder and it can hurt so bad.
I actually really understand Brittany. Her good times with good momentum; her bad times - she gets defensive and bitter when she was triggered by Jasmine at the party. But look at Brittany, she's a pretty girl. She glows when she is doing good. She even looks a bit like Cameron Diaz.
When you level up in one area, other areas catch up. And this is when you need to remember that you are a new person now. You are on a higher level. And you deserve great things before. You deserve even better things now. Don't downplay. Don't brush good gestures aside.
I like Brittany. I like her bluntness, I like her realness, I like her toughness, I like her honesty, her personableness, her standing up for herself in a generally very nice and appropriate way(with her Asian roommate) (I would love to be able to act like that when I confront and conflict with people).
You have to believe in something. Whether it's running, getting healthy, getting jobs, getting happier. You believe, and you just, go.
Then a road goes to black.
