This indie film is filled with a cry for the unequal treatment of women in a male society. The title "The Dead Girl" reflects the producers' sympathy for the misfortunes of a group of women who have been repressed and died physically or spiritually in the real world.
The film is divided into different units from different perspectives, and uses different female characters as the main line to show the injustices that women of different ages endure in this society, and the stifling of their bodies or souls by these treatments.
1. Stranger: The person who found the murdered girl. She is a woman living in the shadow of her family, without self-respect and the courage to be independent. When the dead girl's big eyes aroused her courage to live freely, her heart was still bound by family and morality. And although she was able to escape the pressure of her family, she entered the more oppressive world of patriarchy. Here the director insinuates that the girl who was killed also wanted to escape the pressure of her family and went out into the society, but they could not escape the tragic fate of being oppressed and ravaged.
2.Sister: Forensic doctor, living under the psychological shadow of her sister's disappearance for many years. Her years of fear were released when she found out that the murdered girl might have been her sister. This may be a natural paradox complex under pressure. The director's reclusive women seem to be freed only by death. And when she learned that the deceased was not her sister, anxiety and fear struck again. The film really shows how the misfortune of a loved one can cause so much pain to every woman.
3.Wife: An old woman who has been neglected by her husband for many years. When beauty fades with time, even if women serve hard, they can't get back their husband's heart. When she stumbles across the fact that her husband is a serial perverted murderer, she can go and put that indifferent man in jail. But she gave her husband opportunities again and again, hoping that he would change his mind. In the middle of the night, she also drove the evidence to the police station, but in the end she forgave her husband and burned the evidence. The film shows the tolerance and greatness of women.
4.Mother: The victim's mother. She was in so much pain when she learned from the victim's ex-girlfriend that her daughter left the house because of her stepfather's sexual assault. And when she learned that her daughter had another daughter in foster care in a slum, she resolutely assumed the responsibility of raising her granddaughter. Mother's love survives tenaciously despite being devastated by men again and again.
5.DeadGirl: the victim. Flashback to the story of his murder because he had to rush to his daughter's birthday to celebrate her birthday overnight. Here the main body of the whole story is undoubtedly highlighted. Women resist patriarchy under injustice, and still hope to bring comfort and happiness to their relatives; but in front of cold men, no warmth can stop their desires. The girl died, on her way to her daughter's birthday.
The movie presents the greatness of women in the world and the ugliness of men in a gloomy atmosphere in front of every audience, which makes everyone have too many heavy and profound thoughts on life.
