final disillusionment

Genius movie, one that needs a 3rd reading. fighting movie. Of course, too, a political movie.

First of all, I have to admit that I didn't quite understand Frankheimer's business card, the Manchurian candidate, and the list of the top 100 movies. It was related to the peak of the Cold War in the United States at that time, and that kind of mental barrier and the fear of being murdered came out in the movie.

Frankheimer is always subverting common sense.

For example, in the second life, everyone accepts the American-style life, working hard, earning money well, finally getting ahead, and then retire. After the male protagonist kisses his wife like an old man, he is completely disillusioned.

At that time, it was popular in the United States to say that there is a way to let you live a different life, allowing you to have a complete plastic surgery, just like the confession of a mask that was filmed by the public house of Anbe in Japan at the same time.

So there is a company to run it. In particular, the male protagonist or in the second life in the grape carnival found a young self, felt the desire of youth, this is the colorful movement of the film.

But it can't stop the final disillusionment! What a second life, there is no hope at all.

The film's structure and photography are extremely worthy of scrutiny, and the tension created is just like the Manchu candidates. It can be said to be Hitchcock + Kubrick.

Many of the images refer to Frankheimer's favorite paintings of Margaret.
