❄️February, winter nights are getting warmer❄️
The first holiday of 2020 is unprecedentedly long
After the beginning of spring, the weather is still very gloomy
I can only watch movies at home and change my mood
- We are a pair of socks that are left alone, and I'm torn and long with holes in them
-Then I must be pure white cotton socks
— no, you are royal blue with yellow canaries on it
Mo Di, a strange woman with arthritis and lame feet
Everett, an arrogant and cranky fisherman
In this story, the first acquaintance was not a good one. The irritable and eccentric man never looked forward to this woman who could not even take care of himself.
It was not until one day that Mo Di said "I like you, you need me" that he finally faced up to his feelings.
The tones throughout the film are very rich, just like Mo Di's paintings.
Dim autumn yellow color, fading purple sky, empty field green, dark silhouette silhouettes of people in the room
The whole film seems to use multi-angle, multi-time and space-time lenses to paint the four seasons of Nova Scotia, Canada. Both the protagonist and the audience are like being in the painting.
Mo Di and Everett, two oddballs on the fringes of society, lonely and clumsy.
Although Mo Di is sick, her kindness and her rich and warm inner world are enough to fulfill her "perfection". Everett doesn't understand romance and is rigid and persistent. At first, she was very resistant to Mo Di entering his life, but gradually she got used to it and fell in love with this "perfect" woman.
Mo Di's arrival gave color to his monotonous world, and Everett's life became "a collection of all the good seasons". His messy and empty house was painted by Mo Di's brush and filled with Mo Di's love.
This is a very warm and healing story. The film's narrative is very bland, but it has the power to make people cry. Everett never said that he loves Mo Di, but his tolerance and support are the best Mo Di has ever received. Love, when Mo Di was sick and lying on the hospital bed, she kept repeating, "I have been loved", she can understand Everett's love.
The house they live in has also been preserved. The paint may fade with time. What has not changed in time is that when you and I are opposite, I have nowhere to hide and can't hide. I have to love you
【About the movie prototype】
Before watching this movie, I didn't know much about the background of this movie. It was not until the end of the movie, when the lovely old lady and the little old man on the black and white screen smiled honestly, that I knew that this movie was an adaptation of a true story.
Maud Lewis (1903-1970), one of Canada's most famous and beloved folk artists. She, who has never learned painting, uses childish brushwork to describe the colorful world in her eyes. Her paintings are called "A World Without Shadows". She said in an interview that she draws with her own memories, and paints the best parts of her memories.
Looking at Maud's paintings, I always feel that reality should be better than movies.
