I don't want a future without you

What impressed me most about this gorgeous animation was a line from the heroine Liu Nan.
At that time, Lunan went to an abandoned laboratory to search for the genetic code of the cloned human being and his lover, Briarius, and was attacked by radical human militants. After a fierce struggle, Lunan and Briarius, who was seriously injured in defense of her, finally got the code and escaped from the laboratory.
At that time, Lunan was holding his lover's heavy mechanical body (Briarius lost his body in a serious injury and was replaced by a machine), and Briarius said: "Lunan, go away! Humans Your future is in your hands!" Liu Nan shook his head firmly and said, "No! I will never leave you! I don't
want a future without you." I don't want a future without you. What a beautiful word! Losing what I love, what I am willing to protect, even if the world is saved, what's the point of saving mankind? Of course, you can understand that this is a very selfish statement, but it is so straightforward, so cute, and expresses the character's true state of mind. In my opinion, what Lunan thinks is no different from what the protagonists of saving the world think in other stories. The reason why the saviors are willing to sacrifice others to save the world is because there are things in this world worth protecting and sacrificing for them, while others are insignificant in comparison and can be sacrificed. The only difference is that Lunan chose the former between his lover and the world.
Of course, the director did not let the future of mankind be buried with Briarius because of Lunan's choice. The story ends with a happy ending. I don't know how much weight Liu Nan's casual lines have for the director, but in my opinion, this is the biggest highlight of the whole film.
