The growth story of a little Saudi girl.

The tearful clip is that the girl found out that her mother had been on the balcony, cut her hair short, smoked a cigarette, and said that there will be only the two of us in the future. Then she turned on the light by the wall, and the bright blue bicycle that belonged to the girl was lying there. Mom said that your happiness is the most important thing.

The story unfolds from the girl's point of view, she is intoxicated and running in her own world, everything is so bright. The little boy Abdull's eyes are so clear, he grabbed the girl's head scarf, bought a new one for her, lent her a bicycle, gave her five dollars to tell her not to cry, and was willing to give her a bicycle. They are on the balcony where no one can see, on the dusty construction site, everything is so beautiful.

But when my mother talked about knowing her father, her eyes were bright. She said that in high school, handsome boys wanted to hold her hand, and girls envied her. They used to be childhood sweethearts and fell in love. However, her husband did not return home in the cold war, and her husband's family asked to remarry, just because she could not have a son. However, she never complained from beginning to end, and only hoped that he could change his mind if he could do everything well, because in marriage, she could only be a submissive from beginning to end.

The male in this film is blurred, more like it exists as a background. The existence of the father is just an existence. The film shows the relationship between women and women, and their relationship with themselves. The girl saved money for her bicycle, made bracelets and fought hard to win the Koran competition, despite the opposition of others. The mother finally cut off her long hair and bought the girl a bicycle that she had been firmly opposed to.

At the end of the story, a strong mother and daughter stand on the balcony, and the happy boys and girls run freely on their bicycles. There is a feeling of hope that the story has just begun.

Just came back from Dubai and think of the locals there, living very rich because of oil and successful tourism. Women don’t need to earn money to support their families, they don’t need to work hard to raise children, and they have servants to take care of everything in their daily lives. They only need to live according to the script that was designed at birth. It is in stark contrast to the foreign young girls who come to work there, many of them are from Southeast Asia, they are poor, and they may have to squeeze into a dormitory shared by many people and work hard to earn every penny. They don't have a choice, but many do, and the choices aren't that extreme. But the road to freedom requires courage and perseverance.

May we all have the freedom and courage to choose.
