Oliver's story has been filmed over and over again, and this version is the least lewd and slightly lacking in character.

Every aspect is average, nothing stands out, that is, every aspect is slightly mediocre.

On the surface, it is a children's story, but in fact, adults' strategies account for about two-thirds of the narrative. In the last big raid, the child prisoner who was thrown away used his body to block the door and shouted for help. It was extremely shocking. Unfortunately, the director did not seem to emphasize the moral gray area and compassion of child crime.

In the context of the Industrial Revolution, it is a cramped shot that depicts the people at the bottom.

Personally, I prefer the 68 Oscar bp version, and the 48 version has the taste of British movies.

In my vague memory, the volume of the original book should be relatively large, and the adaptation of the film is obviously a highly concentrated and concise. Although in the limited capacity, the system operation and the display of the character ecology in different small societies about orphanages and street pickpockets have been done as richly and meticulously as possible, which is quite commendable, but I still feel that the whole movie is more like doing my best. I worked hard to finish the general plot, but did not touch the deeper and more vivid artistic connotation behind the writing of the original work, and also lacked the soul of the era at a higher level.
