I finished the novel and then wanted to see the film version. I finished this 1945 black and white film.
Well, what I found at first was that many plots were different from what I imagined.
for example
The theme of the final story has also changed because of the change in the ending. It was originally a judge who was jealous of evil and wanted to do justice for the heavens. When he died of a terminal illness, he collected some criminals in his life who could not be punished by the law. The story becomes... how to say it? ...it seems to be a story of a man and a woman who trust each other in the atmosphere of a suspension bridge where a murderer kills the people around them one by one, and finally love is born and survives.
Why the judge chose these people is not very clear. Because of the ending, the judge seems to have wronged the final hero and heroine.
I think it's more subtle. The flamboyant acting is the commonality of the black and white protagonists of that era, mainly because of the plot. After reading the original book, after watching the BBC series, it is still a little unacceptable.
Mainly the theme of the story, the last two should be the biggest according to the judge's judgment, I didn't expect the director to let them both be innocent...
Anthony should be like Northern gods. He was so high-spirited and found a Russian who was not very strong to play...According to the judge's ranking, he was relatively the least criminal, so he was killed first, so he didn't need to stay until Ended up suffering.
But as expected, the times are different... and even after watching the 2015 BBC version, I still like my own imagination when I read the original hahahaha.
