The movie is like a train speeding by in the dark night. After watching this movie, you will not forget this classic line. It contains Truffaut's love of cinema. Day for night has a very important meaning for Truffaut, after the failure of the previous works, Truffaut's film has brought him back to the ranks of international directors. Truffaut's tribute to film history can be seen everywhere in the film. The stills about the kid stealing Citizen Kane, as well as the feature on the magazine (with Bresson, Breuer, Hitchcock...) the most interesting thing is that Truffaut uses Goth directly in the film Dahl's line of contempt (that's what the lady on location says at the end of the credits, "You guys who make movies are really corrupt..."), but Godard doesn't appreciate it. The reason is that Godard asked the German director Lang to act as the director in Contempt, while Truffaut himself acted as the director in this film.
The filming skills are very high, it not only allows us to see the process of making the film, but also allows us to see the plot of the film. And the process is more exciting than the plot. The intricately ambiguous relationships among the crew members, starring Alexander's same-sex boyfriend and his final death all have strong theatrical conflict.
The film is a good representation of Truffaut's view of the author's film, he only cares about the film itself. For Truffaut, movies are more important than life.
