The band, formerly known as the Eagles, has been around since the late 1950s with
"village rock" singer Ronnie Hawkins. The "Eagle"
was brought under the command of Bob Dylan in 1965. After countless live
concerts, they became a world-class group. They were also officially
named "The Band" (indirectly borrowed from Dylan's fame). However, the musical style of the "
band " has its own style, and the talented guitarist Robbie
Robson has positioned the work in the American South during the Civil War,
creating a unique song mood. And the five
men never show off their skills too much, so they
have won a good reputation in cooperation with many big names. The members of the "band" are all on their own
, no matter whether the genre of the other party is folk, blues, or
gospel songs, they can see tricks and deal with them easily.

This monumental concert invited Martin Scorsese
as the director of the documentary. Martin made a big deal as soon as he shot it. He hired
seven top Hollywood photographers to shoot, and the total consumption of the film was 600,000 feet.

The Band's farewell concert, in fact, I have never heard Band's songs before. The guests are strong. Dylan, Clapton, and Young are all very young, so Ringo didn't sing and played the drums there, haha.

The music is really cool, but it seems that Martin is more able to embody the "musical sense" of his images when the feature film is interspersed with concerts rather than purely filming concerts.

The Last Waltz quotes

  • Levon Helm - Drums: New York, it was an adult portion. It was an adult dose. So it took a couple of trips to get into it. You just go in the first time and you get your ass kicked and you take off. As soon as it heals up, you come back and you try it again. Eventually, you fall right in love with it.

  • Martin Scorsese - Interviewer: [First lines] Okay, Rick, what's the game?

Rick Danko - Bass: [At at pool table] Cut throat.

Martin Scorsese - Interviewer: What's the object?

Rick Danko - Bass: Object is to keep your balls on the table and knock everybody else's off.
