Thoughts on Alara Mountain

The lucky ones who escaped the ethnic cleansing were neutral bystanders and genuine rare survivors. Bystanders will ask the priest, "How can I goug out my eyes?" Survivors may turn to art, a heart-wrenching struggle with memories of the past, ready to come out but It was always suppressed by the creator, and finally led to another tragedy of the individual, to chase the group that was perished, and there should have been this "lucky" survivor there.
The next generation of ethnic cleansing survivors is trying to restore history they have not seen, and through hearing from generation to generation, they are trying to rediscover the history of this erasure. These crimes were so easily erased at the beginning of the last century when information was not yet developed. The identity of the expressor is that of a historian or a film director, or through the blackboard or through the lens, they want to express an irreversible truth, the traces of the existence of a nation that has been wiped out in time and even geographically. and tell it to the next generation.
Film cases containing drugs or real film are destroyed once opened. It is not easy to restore a piece of history that no longer exists. The distance between exposure and the truth is so far away that it is bound to be strangers. Obsolete history, forgotten times are boring to the victors.

After watching the long-awaited "Alara Mountain", I really wanted to write something. The history of Turkey and Armenians at the beginning of the 20th century seems difficult to investigate. So save a little sense of the movie first, and see if it is possible to go deeper after the busy time.

If you don't know anything about the Armenian Genocide, this kind of restored image is still very popular. As for the exploration of the ontology of the image, Lao Yi is really becoming more and more mediocre..

Whether the narrative of history determines history; second-generation immigrants/individuals' identification with their own identity

Ararat quotes

  • Ali, actor playing Jevdet Bey: [as Jevdet Bey, holds up photo] This your mother? She's given you this photograph so that you may remember her. Look at it now. This is the face of a woman who's raised you to feel superior to us. She's taught you that Turks are vengeful and ignorant. That we're blood-thirsty. Now I am going to teach you something. For what is about to happen to you people is your own fault. As much as you talk about your prophet, Jesus Christ, in the depths of your souls you believe in *nothing*, but commerce and money! My streets are overrun with your markets and moneylenders. Your greed has let us to corruption and ruin. Now you yourselves will be ruined.
