"Ice Age 4": Warm and cute prehistoric "Odyssey"

In the ancient Greek classic Homer epic "Odyssey", the protagonist Odyssey has gone through a life of nine deaths, drifting on the sea for more than ten years, and finally returned to his hometown and reunited with his wife and children. "Odyssey" is exactly the same: Mammoth Manny was separated from his wife and daughter due to a geological disaster, and was forced to start a journey home drifting at sea with the old partner of the saber-toothed tiger and the sloth. Of course, as a funny and cute cartoon, the original monsters in the epic have become childlike villains: such as the circus-like pirate group, and the group of fat-headed fish-like "Sirens" ("Odyssey" "The sea monster who sings to confuse the sailor's mind in the story).

Manny was of course successfully reunited with his daughter. After 4 episodes of "Ice Age", this reckless and lonely mammoth has grown into a poor dad who worries about his adolescent daughter’s friendship issues all day long. When the daughter starts to embrace spring, the dad is inevitable. Simple and rude strict discipline. However, after experiencing some catastrophe, Manny still dismissed his suspicion with the "lover of the previous life". After all, the father and daughter are connected, and the youngest daughter also began to re-examine the problem of making friends. In addition to the mammoth father and daughter, the sloth Sid and his crazy old grandmother constitute another narrative clue to tell the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. This is a pair of "losers" abandoned by the family, but at the last moment, everyone The old grandmother who didn't believe it really summoned its "imaginary pet"-a huge baby whale, and successfully saved everyone (this is also a successful narrative reversal). Therefore, behind the "Odyssey"-style adventure, the heart of "Ice Age 4" is still a warm and touching family ethics drama.

"Ice Age 4" continues the usual geological disaster setting in the previous work. For the characters in the film, the continents that may collapse at any time become the fuse of the crisis that keeps their lives hanging by a thread-reflected in the plot, it becomes The fate of the character that attracts the audience is suspense (the pursuit of the villain Boss makes the whole film more tense).
