Snow Cake - an unmissable movie

"Snow Cake" is one of the closing films of this year's Hong Kong International Film Festival. Director Marc Evans also attended the screening last night. It is the second and third performance in the world (there were two at the Cultural Centre yesterday), and the premiere is a few weeks. It was also the opening film of the Berlin Film Festival in Germany before. This film is one of my favorites at the festival this year.

As the director once said, "Snow Cake" is not just about autism. , as "Rain Man" said not only about autism, but also about Tom Cruise's character and greed in the 1980s. He said "Snow Cake" is about grief (mourning, grief) and dislocation (dislocation). There's tragedy, there's humor, and it's about forgiveness. Today, in our lives, questions like war and poverty are less pressing than "how to live," really.

One day, you're sitting alone in a restaurant, ready to drive away. Going to see someone, how do you know that a strange girl comes over and talks to you, and it's a bit annoying, the purpose is not only to ask you to take her for a ride, but also for another reason. From this moment on, you and her life It 's different.

The script is very good, the casting is top-notch, and the film uses a lot of music, which makes the film more colorful. The sense of humor plays an indispensable role in the film. The

actor Alan Rickman has been very good in his appearance . , think of his role as Emma Thompson's husband in "Love Actually" (a boss who is somewhat ambiguous with his female subordinates), and his role as a professor in "Harry Potter". This time he plays a bereaved father, a murderer who just got out of prison , his acting skills are extraordinary, and many inner scenes are also played properly, and he can really stand on his own. He has made a lot of efforts for the sense of humor that is often found in the play.

Sigourney Weaver's acting skills are even more undoubted. The young woman is not easy at all, but she doesn't get as much on the show as Alan Rickman's.

There are many touching moments in the movie. When everyone held a funeral for Linda (Weaver) daughter Vivienne at Linda's house after the funeral, she actually told people to leave, played loud music, and danced, causing everyone to be in an uproar. Then what I see in the picture is what Linda sees in the eyes, that is, her daughter dances with her in the snow, making people cry. The song sung by the weird Japanese male singer, maybe it is her and her daughter's music, because her daughter is in On the night of her death in a car accident, after the police officer left, Linda listened to this song alone at home. Seeing Linda's unusual way of mourning, some people will feel sad, but she, who lives in her own world, may be more We are more able to face the unacceptable reality.

One of the funniest scenes should be Alex (Rickman) and Linda (Weaver) playing Scrabbles, which makes people laugh.

Another movie not to be missed.

PS Forgot to say, the story is It happened in a small town called Wawa north of Ottawa, Canada.

It's hard to imagine the intrepid Sigourney Weaver in Alien playing an autistic person, and it's familiar with the humorous qualities Alan Rickman displays. The story of the film begins with an accidental car accident and continues with an unbearable guilt, showing a natural family dependence and excavating a kindness and warmth in the heart. The rhythm is slightly slower, suitable for meditation, and brings you a sense of beauty and indifference.

The subject matter is ok, and the actors are selected correctly, but unfortunately the rhythm of the movie is not well grasped. The director wants to complete a redemption story that develops naturally, but it will not work without enough talent. Plus Sigourney Weaver is amazing!

  • Alex Hughes: So someone said you can drink this water.

Maggie: Yeah, it's supposed to have healing properties. Why don't you take a sip?

Alex Hughes: I don't think so.

Maggie: What, you don't want to be healed? Set free of your demons?

Alex Hughes: They keep me company.
