Read the introduction first. The movie was preceded by a TV series of the same name, and it has already aired for three seasons. The subconsciousness of the film director may think that the audience has seen this TV series, so many plots are cut in the film, and the scene flashes by. and made major changes. And I haven't seen this TV series myself, all the impressions can only come from the movie.

Type of movie to watch first, Western? Shootout movie? Gangster movie? crime movie? It seems to be a little bit on the edge, but it's not up to the mark. In my opinion, I would rather call it a drama.

It tells the story of a small town in the western United States in the 19th century, during the three days of the anniversary of the founding of the state. And this story is related to an incident that happened in the town ten years ago. The handsome sheriff, the cowgirl, the sick boss, the boss, the prostitute who wants to get married, the killer who wants to make money, the black uncle who fishes, the old man who died wrongly, and all kinds of people participated in it, and performed a show before watching it for the second time. Feel great play.

It is necessary to take out the boss Hearst first, because this character is special in the whole film. He was a state senator, rich, well-dressed, and soft-spoken. But he is a rich and unkind wicked man. In order to make money, they can go against the law of heaven and hire murderers to kill. He is a typical upstart in the era of primitive accumulation. Faithfully fulfilling the policy of "We lie, cheat, steal... This is the glory of America's continuous exploration and progress". He is also an evil person who really existed but is different from ordinary people. Everything that happened in the town was about him.

Like the title of "Deadwood", the film will show us many other little characters. Like thousands of ordinary people, they live according to their own ideas. Looking forward to a peaceful life. However, as sung in a song: "Life is like a lump, and there are always small knots that can't be solved." Life is not as people want it to be, making waves everywhere. In the face of "big evil", they are powerless to resist, some people involuntarily do some "small evil", some people keep silent in the face of evil, and some people inadvertently abandon friendship and family. Either they have personally experienced the turmoil ten years ago, or they have their own unspeakable secrets. Most of these people are past middle age, or dying, or suffering from diseases. Looking back on the past years later, these have become knots in their hearts that cannot be solved.

They began to sort out their past. From the death of Bill Sycock and Xiao Zhen ten years ago, to the love affair between Sheriff Blake and Mrs. Ellsworth, from the unscrupulous love of Jane and Joni, to Al's murder and rescue of Tracy. Severed fingers, from Art entangled in Hearst's coercion, to Trish's reckless revenge. In the long years, they have suffered the torture of conscience. As Al said, "We've all done bad things." There seemed to be a large grinding wheel on them, making them breathless.

As they get older, they feel that "time will start to slow down and end". Attempts to forget, deliberate avoidance, and numbness with alcohol are all useless. The hatred, mistakes, mistakes, misunderstandings, and estrangements in the past must always be resolved. Those wounds in the heart always need to be healed by themselves, in order to obtain inner peace and soul liberation. In the end, the only way they choose is to face it bravely.

Al's way was to attend Trish and Saul's wedding with his last energy and gift them the hotel with an American mind. Trish bravely stood up and scolded Hearst in person. Catastrophe Jane won back Joni's heart with her persistent pursuit and manly bravery. Sheriff Black said to his wife, who was silently waiting by the window, "I'm going home." Black Sam, who was enduring great pain to identify the culprit, said, "Sheriff, the Bible says. God's chosen witnesses. , is the most unlikely one." Facing the powerful threat, the gentle and generous Att said to Hearst calmly, "I won't sell this place."

On his deathbed, Sam once described Art in this way: "When it happened, Mr Art looked like a different person, as if he had taken a load off his shoulders and sang 'Wandering in the Valley', which sounded happy and sweet. . Singing all the time..." This is actually a summary of all the people who made the right choice.

In fact, not only the characters in the movie, but all of us in real life have done some wrong things more or less? So think about it carefully, do we also have the courage to face and introspect like those characters in the film, in exchange for a worthy life?

The last line in the film is what Al said: "Our Father in heaven, let him stay in heaven." I think this is the attitude of ordinary Americans towards religion and their attitude towards life. That is, without relying on any gods, and relying on oneself to tap the goodness and justice in the soul.

Al is played by Ian McShane. Have seen him play the Continental hotel owner in the Speed series. I admire his sophistication and calm personality. In this film, he is still a hotel owner, but his personality is very different. Old-fashioned but decadent.

My rating: 7.5.
