This is an early romantic comedy from director Ingmar Bergman. In a small town in Sweden in 1901, lawyer Frederick married a young wife named Anne, who was only eighteen years old and could be his youngest daughter. He loved this little woman and was fascinated all day long, but he couldn't control her. He and his ex-wife's son Henrik is a handsome 19-year-old boy, and his emotional balance is hesitant between his stepmother and maid of the same age, so the marriage of the old man and the young wife in this family has caused people's differences. Frederick sat with Anne in the old ornate theatre. When the famous actor Desley came onto the stage to the applause of the audience, Annie found her smiling in the telescope, and she remembered that her husband had called Dessley's name in the dream. She suspected that Desley must be the woman her husband once loved. She began to have doubts about her marriage. He used to be like a greedy wolf wishing to swallow her. He went to her house every night and told her fairy tales until she fell asleep unknowingly. This summer, when Frederick appeared lonely and melancholy, Anne moved with compassion and offered to marry him. After his wife lay down, Frederick returned to the theater alone. Just after the play ended, when Desley saw him, her face was radiant. The lawyer is really worried. He and Annie have been married for two years, but they have never had a married life. Seeing that she was still childish and fearful of him, he had to wait for her to mature. Ask Desley to fulfill his relationship with Annie and ask her for advice on how to win Annie's heart. At night, Desley took him to her apartment. Near the door of Desley's house, Frederick accidentally fell into a pond and was soaked all over. Disley asked him to change into his lover's clothes. Suddenly, a small child, also named Frederick, passed the living room, and he was Disley's son. Frederick immediately suspected that the child was born to him and Desley, but Desley categorically denied it. At first, he regarded her as a beautiful doll, and had no sincerity to marry her at all. Now he likes his little wife and can't control her. Disli's lover is back, and Disli deliberately left the two men in the living room to be jealous. Now Disley knew that although Frederick was married, she was still as lonely as she was. She decides to use some gimmicks to get Frederick back to her. So she went to Rabsburg early in the morning to see her mother, Mrs. Amfi, and asked the old lady to come out and hold a banquet. These four pairs of men and women finally belong to each other.
