The Western World in the Eyes of Italians

I have always been interested in works on American Western subjects. Some time ago, when playing Red Dead Redemption: Redemption, I felt that I was completely addicted to the game. I was deeply attracted by the landscape and humanities of the wild west. Once imagined to be able to cross into the western world. It is a feeling of freedom and unrestrainedness, a world where the prodigal travels the world and sees and hears everywhere.

I have known the movie "Red Dead Redemption" for some time, but I haven't had the opportunity to watch it. This time, through the limited time of the holiday, I found the Red Dead Redemption trilogy online.

It is said that the first step in Red Dead is to completely copy Kurosawa Akira's "Intentional Stick", so that half of the final box office revenue was awarded to Kurosawa Akira. But in any case, this film is a success, it should be a model for the opening of Hollywood Western blockbusters. The plot of the first part is very simple. The bounty hunter played by Eastwood comes to a small town on the border between the United States and Mexico. This small town is controlled by two forces, one is Bandit Simon and the other is the evil force represented by the town sheriff. (In that era of underdeveloped information traffic, presumably the wild west was dominated by evil forces everywhere.) The protagonist succeeded in causing conflicts between the two forces and killing each other through repeated tactics. There is a sense of profit for the fisherman. But when the film finally focused on the Simon gang fire and the Sheriff’s family, it must be sympathetic, and at the same time it highlights the cruelty of the Simon’s gang.

But if you judge it purely from likes and dislikes, perhaps this movie produced in the 1960s is not very in line with my aesthetics. The story is simple, but the story is slow. The whole movie is too heroic and the protagonist's halo is too strong. In addition, the IQ of the big boss is too low and too rigid. I was frightened just because I hit the other person’s heart and didn’t respond.

A Fistful of Dollars quotes

  • Joe: Every town has a boss.

Silvanito: Yes, but when there are two around, I'd say there is one too many!

  • Joe: You see, I understand you men were just playin' around, but the mule, he just doesn't get it. Course, if you were to all apologize...

    [Men Laugh]

Joe: I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
