Dark Invasion

In an unexpected car accident, Sarah's husband and daughter were pierced to death by sharp steel pipes flying over from a truck. Although Sarah survived by chance, she never recovered. A year later, in order to get Sarah back on track, her five friends who like outdoor adventures, all in their early 20s, decided to invite her to participate in the annual outdoor adventure. This time, the destination is located in the United States. The Braehan Caves in Chatuga National Park in the Appalachian Mountains. They entered the cave. Sarah was stuck when entering a narrow cave, and then the cave collapsed, blocking the circuit.

They had to move forward, and their teammates confessed to everyone that this was not the Bolehan Caves, but an undiscovered cave. In the cave, there are ancient half-human monsters. In the cave, Sarah and her friends are attacked by monsters one after another and become the monster's dish. In the process of escaping, the friendship disappeared. In order to survive, he sacrificed his friends for the monsters to eat.

In the end, Sarah was alone, but she herself was escaping and fell into the pit in a panic. When Sarah woke up, she found a sloping passage full of bones, and the passage could see the sun. She climbed up frantically, fled the cave, drove all the way down the mountain, saw the container truck carrying timber, and was shocked by the ghosts of her teammates. . It turned out that this was just Sarah's dream. Sarah was not rescued but was still in the cave. Sarah’s heart fell into a dark cave. She dreamed of seeing her dead daughter and birthday cake. She smiled knowingly and forgot her fear. She was immersed in the happy memories of her daughter. Numerous hungry monsters were crawling towards her from all directions. Come, the roar is endless.

After Sarah woke up in the cave, the bones covered in the tunnel symbolized that she was betraying her teammates to survive, and she was crawling outside with the lives of her teammates. However, the trace of hope of escape she had obtained was also her own imagination. All that awaited her was repentance and darkness, as well as a Chinese meal of becoming an ancient monster.

The ending of the story can be said to be rewarded for good and evil, and there is no reunion routine. The scene of escape from the tunnel is not the biggest highlight of the film. At the end of the film, Sarah thought she had escaped and was still in the abyss when she woke up. The end is what distinguishes this film from other adventure horror movies.

Finally, remind the audience that people with claustrophobia should be cautious.

    I served the ending!

[B+] Environment, environment, extreme environment! In the claustrophobic darkness underground, only a small amount of light is enough to magnify the atmosphere rendering to the extreme. Blood red represents fear, fighting and cowardice, fluorescent green represents rationality and unity, and dim yellow is the main color of monsters, while white light from the surface is the hope of false disillusionment, and outlines the outline of endless bones on the way of life. From the visual expression alone, it has reached its peak in the horror movies of 00s. The last half hour is particularly exciting, and the ending segment of the virtual reality and dream blending reminds me of "Carrie Witch", not only because of the hand protruding from the ground, but also because of the appearance of the heroine being reborn from the blood. It is difficult. Don't let me make associations.

The Descent quotes

  • [Terrified, looking at Sarah who's covered in blood]

    Juno: What happened to you?

  • Beth: [trapped after a cave-in] You put in a flight-plan, right? If we don't report in they'll come looking for us.

Rebecca: That's how it's supposed to work, except I put in a flight-plan for Boreham Caverns and this isn't Boreham Caverns, is it Juno?

Beth: We're in the wrong fucking cave!

Juno: Holly was right! Boreham Caverns was a tourist trap!

Holly: Don't try and pin this fucking shit on me!

Rebecca: This is not caving, this is an ego-trip.

    Sam: Where are we?

Juno: It hasn't got a name. It's a new system. I wanted us all to discover it! No one's ever been down here before.

Sam: Are you fucking kidding me?
