is so excited about the success of Stig Larson’s millennial series published behind him, that David Fincher set about directing the English version of the first part of the trilogy.
The American version of "Girl with Dragon Tattoo" was released in December last year. During this year, movie stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara dazzled the cobbled alleys of Stockholm's Södermalm district and the mill town in the north.
This is not only a major chapter in the history of the Swedish film industry — they are responsible for a lot of the basic work — but also a mixed film version of one of the greatest triumphs in the history of Swedish literature. In a truly international cast, the Swedish-trained Hollywood star Stellan Skarsgard played the role of Martin Fanger.
This year, the relationship between Hollywood and Sweden has deepened. Sweden can be proud of the cast that it exports to this dream factory. In 2011, Loomi Lapace, Alexander Skarsgaard (yes, the son of Strand) and Michael Enqvist all left their marks there.
La Pace, who appeared in the Swedish version of the Millennium Trilogy, successfully participated in Guy Ritchie's film "The Detective Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows." The movie was released in the United States in December, with a box office record of about 39 million U.S. dollars in the first week, making it the box office champion.
La Pace has a bigger highlight in 2012. Later last year, she became the star of Ridley Scott's space thriller "Prometheus." To some people, she seems destined to become a true Hollywood star-"Time Magazine" labelled her as Greta Garbo of our time. Her ex-husband, Ula Rapace, will soon appear in the upcoming Bond film "Falling from the Sky."
Michael Enqvist-the male lead actor in the Swedish millennium series-plays Tom Cruise's opponent in "Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol." And Alexander Skarsgard will continue to ignite the passion of young viewers in the TV series "True Love as Blood".
And this is not all Swedish actors have done in the world. Thomas Alfredson has released his first English work "The Potmaker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" after successfully directing "No One Who Lives In". This is a tense stylized work set in the Cold War era, adapted from the novel of the same name by John Le Carré. The film is starring Gary Oldman and Colin Firth.
