Simple patchwork of space theme and alien theme

Let me talk about the name of the movie first. The English name "life", life, is a very simple word, but this simple word pattern can be very large. It is a pity that the screenwriter and director only made a few points in the movie, and finally simplified it into a simple piece of space theme and alien theme. The Chinese translation of "Awakening of Alien Stars" is completely different from the original name "Life", but rather reflects the true content of this movie-another alien story.

The storyline is particularly simple. A group of astronauts and scientists studied samples from Mars on a spacecraft and found that the samples showed signs of life. After a period of cultivation, the samples evolved into life forms in a very short period of time and began to prey on humans. In the end, most people died (including the guinea pigs used for experiments on the boat).

The story logic is basically developed within the framework of alien themes, but moved to a more realistic spaceship, everyone flees for their lives floating around in the absence of gravity. But this movie is so much higher than Alien's rank that the entry point of the movie is trying hard to get closer to the macro theme of mankind, life, and the universe. Unfortunately, in the second half of the film, the director completely discarded this theme in pursuit of thrilling and nervous special effects. After the end of the movie, there is a kind of "what are you" that makes people want to beat the director's head.

"Life" is a neutral word. No commendation or derogation. But human emotions instinctively connect it with "hope." So at the beginning of the movie, all mankind was excited about the sample showing signs of life, and gave it a name, Kevin. Human beings are so peculiar. They give names to things wishfully, thinking that they have a heart-to-heart relationship with this thing, and out of thin air give birth to some good feelings that shouldn't or even be wrong. In the end, "hope" was transformed into "despair" alive.

Speaking of the story of name, I remembered that a buddy in the laboratory used to keep a tank of Mexican cavefish for biomimicry research. Later, he had to go to the United States to exchange for half a year, during which the important task of feeding the fish had to be handed over to others. Since everyone is basically working in various laboratories, no one is resident in a laboratory with fish. It is possible for the fish to be full and hungry, or even starve to death. So, this buddy had an idea, so he told everyone that everyone treated him blabla well, so he decided to name each fish in the tank after everyone. To be honest, I have not been able to tell which of the fish in the tank is my little fish. But when I thought that a fish named after my name might not have eaten today, I would run to the laboratory to make sure it was eaten.

After all, don’t make a name for yourself before you figure it out. So I agree that at the very beginning, Kevin was initially aggressive, everyone was still Kevin long and Kevin short, and when they didn’t know what to do, Rory broke out. I don’t care what the fuck is Kevin and what this thing is. It's not clear yet, so give it a name. However, the most sober Rory died first.

The topic of "life" is basically done by the black character Derry. Of course, at the same time as Kevin's birth, the birth of the Japanese astronaut's daughter on the earth was also inserted. But this fragment is of little significance. Derry personally cultivated Kevin with vitality and regarded it as his own baby. Later, when his baby became a predator, Derry said leisurely, in fact, Kevin eats us not because of hate, but because he wants to survive. After what he said, Kevin's behavior suddenly became less terrifying and frightening for no reason. Indeed, any life has no compromises in order to survive. It's just that the human beings who are now at the top of the earth's food chain are too arrogant to imagine that one day they will encounter a higher-end predator than themselves. The scary thing is that the evil result of this conceit is to activate Kevin and lead the wolf into the room.

After Derry's death, the director left his hands on the subject and began to focus on how to get Kevin to eat people in a novel way, and then ended the movie with the "I'm not" brain circuit.

After watching the movie, I asked my friends who watched the movie, do you think there is a sequel? My friend thought for a while: There must be. Kevin met an octopus in the sea and felt that he had found his own species. He would either live happily in the sea or lead the octopus to occupy the earth.
