I remember more than 20 years ago, when I was seven or eight years old, I was particularly obsessed with going to a video store to rent a disc. At that time, the Internet was not popular, and there was no movie theater in my hometown. Renting discs became my main way of watching movies. After school and vacation, I like to run to the video store after doing homework. I usually stay there all afternoon. Sometimes when I encounter a disc I like, I don't pay it back if I rent it, and I go to rent a new one with a shame. Although the boss is upset, he still rents it to me every time. I think he still likes me as a kid, right? Hahahahaha?
The seed for me to become a fan is planted at this stage.
At that time I rented discs, and I liked renting children's fantasy games. After all, it was a child! It is also because I am a child, there is a kind of disc that I have never dared to rent-ghost movies!
I believe that few children are not afraid of ghosts. When I was a child, I was one of many kids who were afraid of ghosts.
At that time, the audio-visual stores put the DVD jackets in rows according to the type and put them on the shelves for customers to choose. You can not rent the DVD, but you can't control your eyes to not see the jacket. That's how I am. Every time I accidentally spotted the envelopes of those horror films, I was so scared that I immediately ran away, and for a long time I had a lingering fear.
When I was young, I was really afraid of ghosts!
I remember the batch of horror film jackets that scared me back then, including "Ghost Baby", "Mountain Village Corpse", "The Grudge", and "Midnight Ring", these are very classic horror movie. At that time, there was another movie that impressed me a lot. It was the movie "Street of Ghosts" that kept me from sleeping at night because of the cover.
Because it was a shadow of childhood, I didn't dare to watch it for many years after I was an adult. Until yesterday, I finally finished watching the first part.
How does it feel? I feel fortunate that I didn't watch it when I was a kid, otherwise I must have not dared to turn off the lights to sleep for several days!
From the current point of view, the first work of this series, its scary effect is enough, the horror atmosphere is very in place, but the scary methods are relatively old-fashioned, and most of them are Jump Scare. What is more impressive is the visual and makeup effects. In the 1980s, CG technology was not as widespread as it is now. Most of it relied on real makeup techniques and real shots of realistic props, which gave me the feeling of watching special films during the Showa period in Japan. I can feel that the film workers at that time had a strong craftsmanship. Looking at it today, this kind of spirit is really precious!
Another surprise must be Johnny Depp! He is the male number one in the film. Depp in 1984 was tender enough to express milk! This film is also his film debut. It's just that Depp's ending in the film is a bit miserable! ! ! Sigh, it's spectacular! It's exciting! It's bloody!
What must be said is the ending. This is definitely the scariest part of the whole movie! It was caught off guard, but it left enough room for interpretation.
In fact, after watching the whole movie, if you define "Night Ghost Street", I would say that it is a fantasy youth adventure film dressed in a horror film. I even saw the feeling of "Home Alone", which is more A little comedy element.
Now, I will no longer be scared by "Most Ghost Street", I will only miss that era even more.
What a wonderful eighties!
